Chapter 14
That night, TC slammed the door and went inside his shed. Eve had heard
the shed door slam since the window was open.
"Oh no," Eve said. "TC was in such a good mood earlier, I wonder why
he's going to the shed?" Eve brushed it off, realizing that he was probably
just upset that he finally saw Liz for the person she was. "Thank goodness
Liz is gone for good."
Meanwhile, TC turned on a light in his shed, his past staring him in
the face. TC dragged out an old photograph.
"After my accident, I lost more than my tennis career," TC said. TC
was looking at the photograph of someone from his past. They had been together
for some time before the accident. Their relationship was kept a secret
because of his father wanting him to focus on tennis, but as soon as he
was in the accident that cost him his tennis career, she left him because
she didn't want to get dragged into the problems between him and his father
after the sabotaging of his tennis career. He saw her in Harmony
often, but ever since she came back to town, they rarely exchanged so much
as a passing glance. TC kicked a box over in frustration. "Now you're
throwing your relationship with Julian Crane in my face!" Julian said.
"The man who cost me my tennis accident! Damn all of the Cranes! Every
last one of them!" TC said. TC kicked over another box. "How could you!?"
TC exclaimed. TC had moved on with his wife and family, he loved Eve more
than anything in the world, but he couldn't stop but think about how his
life had gone downhill from there. He blamed Rebecca Hotchkiss for everything
that had gone wrong in his life after the tennis career. For years they
hadn't spoken or contacted each other after the break up, then when they
were eventually living in the same town again, now she was a completely
different person, a gold digger who was out for blood if anything got in
her way of snagging Julian and the Crane fortune, not only that, she flaunted
her personal life with Julian for the whole town to see. Just when
things were starting to become fine between him and Eve again after Whitney's
secret relationship with Chad being exposed, he found out that Liz, another
person he'd trusted had been scheming against his family, he still didn't
know the reason. TC discarded the picture, knowing that it wouldn't help
his progress with his temper. He left the shed to spend some time with
his wife, who he knew would never leave him for Julian.
Later, Julian had left to take another phone call and more orders from
Alastair after lecturing Rebecca that Gwen was right about the scheming
and she needed to listen to Gwen for once. Rebecca couldn't help
but think about the past and the events that had caused her to try so hard
to hang onto everything she had. She thought about her past relationship
with TC, and remembered how much he loved tennis. Their relationship had
been kept quiet because of TC's father's focus on tennis. Then there was
TC's accident. After the accident, Rebecca had broken things off because
she knew that TC would never be the same after the accident and didn't
know what was going to happen when TC's father realized that he couldn't
play tennis anymore, and knew that TC's father wouldn't accept the relationship
because TC had lost his tennis career and his father would blow up at TC
that he was having a relationship behind his father's back when he should
have been focusing on tennis. Now, TC was this person who was angry all
the time and constantly beating people up, including Julian. For years
Gwen had been the only real happiness in her life, which was why she felt
like she had to do whatever she had to to protect Gwen. Even though Rebecca
and Julian were married and expecting a child, she still knew that Julian
was thinking about someone else. The signs were all there, so why not?
He had already jumped on the first opportunity to take advantage of Theresa
when he was supposed to be down in Bermuda getting a divorce from Ivy finalized
so they could get married, instead she ended up having to share Julian
and Ivy with Theresa.
