Who You Really Are Chpt 22
by lillbugg
Grace sat with her daughter on the bed, stroking her hair while the
tears fell. Kay felt like she would never stop crying. All the pain she
had felt over the years was rushing out right then and there. She felt
it was ironic that the very person she had felt the most hate for during
her life was the one that she was crying on. When Kay's tears started slowing,
Grace finally spoke.
"I am so proud of you baby. You have really shown how mature you are
by writing that letter to Charity. You really have grown."
Kay groaned on her mother's shoulder. "I can't believe you can say
that after I've been crying like a baby for the past half hour."
Grace smiled. "It's okay to cry. I know you felt very strongly about
Miguel and I am very sorry that I haven't been there for you when you've
needed me."
"It's not all your fault, mom. I haven't exactly been all that loving
towards you either."
"Well then, we've both made some big mistakes. Looks like you've made
the first step in trying to fix them."
Kay looked at her mother, suspician starting to grow in her mind. "Why
are you here, mom? Did you bring Charity to see Miguel?"
"No sweetheart. I realized how hard it must have been for you to write
that letter and figured you had to be in a lot of pain. You haven't exactly
been one to admit when you are wrong. I came for you. Charity isn't here."
Kay breathed in. "I'm sorry Mom. It's just....I'm so used to thinking
she came first to you. I thought there had to be a reason that you were
here other than me."
"And it's my fault you felt that way. I'm here just for you. Now what
are all these bags doign all over the place?"
"I'm packing to move out for a while. Sheridan offered me the cottage
so Miguel and I could spend some time apart."
Grace nodded as she started putting clothes into an empty bag. "DO
you mind having a roomate for a week or so? Only if you want to."
The words had barely left Grace's mouth when Kay threw her arms around
her mother.
"I would love to."
Miguel sat at his desk trying to sort out his thoughts. He didn't want to hate Kay anymore. He wanted to try and make things work for their son, but he couldn't even stand the sight of her face knowing what she had done. He didn't know what to do.
"You've Got Mail"
Miguel opened his e-mail and stared in shock at the name ont he new message. It was Charity. Quickly he opened it, holding his breath for fear of what he would read.
"Miguel
I have debated writing to you for a long time now. I am still very hurt by you and what happened between you and Kay. But mostly, I wanted to forget about you and move on with my life. I tried very hard, but it never worked. I still think about you daily. I still pull your pictures out when I am lonely and sad and I still compare every guy I see to you. I tried to stay angry with you, but then Kay sent me an e-mail saying it was all her fault and admitting what she had done to you. I still think that you not telling me what had happened was wrong of you and hurt me deeply, but I can't continue blaming you for something that isn't your fault. Please forgive Kay. She honestly believes she loves you and perhaps she does. Maybe even as much as I do. Yes, I said do. Don't let your anger at her ruin the relationship you will have with your son. I have forgiven her and you. I am not ready to see either of you yet, but given time, I'm sure I will. I will keep writing to you and we'll see where it goes from there.
With love
Charity"
Miguel sat back with a wide grin on his face. All was not lost. And
he had Kay to thank for that. She had written to Charity so they would
still have a chance together. Miguel listened as Kay and her mother took
her bags down the stairs. he would pay her a visit later with brandon and
thank her for what she had done. If Charity could forgive both of them,
he could forgive Kay. After all, she had given him his son.
Pilar hurried down the street to the Crane mansion, Paloma at her side.
Paloma was only going along because she had never seen her nephew before.
Pilar burst through the front door and rushed into the living room to find
Ivy and Gwen sitting with Andrea and Lil Ethan.
"Why is Ethan filing for sole custody? Is he trying to take Lil Ethan
away from my daughter?" Pilar demanded from Ivy.
"Ethan is worried about Lil Ethan's safety. He believes Theresa is
unstable, and all of us in this house tend to agree with him." Ivy informed
her.
"I could have told you that years ago," Paloma said under her breath.
Gwen tried unsuccessfully to hide a snicker that escaped from her mouth
when she heard it. Pilar ignored them and continued berating Ivy.
"Tell him to stop this right away! My daughter is not unstable."
"She's not unstable!?!?!? Wake up Pilar! This women completely ignored
her own child until she realized that she could use him in her ploy to
snare my son. She declared herself Mrs. Crane when she decided it would
work for her and she has tried numerous times to hurt me, Gwen, and others
for getting in her way."
"Nothing you haven't done in your lifetime Ivy," Pilar said coldly.
Ivy's eyes narrowed. Gwen quickly tried to smooth the feathers.
"Now you two, nothing is for sure yet. Ethan just wants to continue
to be a part of this childs life as I do without having Theresa as a constant
background. We are trying to figure out a way to see Lil Ethan and stay
as far away from Theresa as possible, for Theresa's sake as well as our
own. We believe that she will be able to accept the fact that Ethan has
moved on and move on herself should she not be able to be around him as
much. She is still able to see Lil Ethan as much as she wants, which she
will continue to be allowed to with supervision should Ethan and I get
full custody. We're not trying to take anything away from anyone."
Paloma stared admirably at Gwen. After all her sister had put her through,
Gwen still was trying to keep Theresa in the picture. She was even succeeding
in pacifying Pilar and Ivy at the same time. They both seemed satisfied
as Pilar walked up the stairs to see Theresa and Ivy left to talk with
Julian. Paloma opted to stay in the living room with Gwen and the babies.
"Hi, I'm Gwen. Your sister's least favorite person," Gwen said as she
extended her hand to Paloma.
"Hi I'm Paloma and Theresa is my least favorite person," Paloma giggled
as she shook Gwen's hand. The two women talked about life in mexico and
how different it was from Harmony while Paloma played with Lil Ethan and
Andrea. After a while, Paloma sighed and looked up the stairs to see if
her mother was finished pacifying Theresa yet.
"I don't know why she's so intent on keeping Theresa happy. It's not
like Theresa cares a rip for what Mama thinks," Paloma said sadly.
"Pilar is a loving person. She would do anything for her children,"
Gwen said.
"Well, some of them at least," Paloma answered.
Gwen was about to answer when a peircing screech stopped her.
"Get away from my son!" Theresa yelled, grabbing Lil Ethan from Paloma's
grasp and glaring fiercely down at her.
