After talking with Allegra, Julian took William to his room, dressed him in his pajama and placed him in his bed before walking into the kitchen to get a beer. He had prayed that he would never have to see Carlo’s face again, that Allegra and Celia would take care of him once and for all… but it didn’t work and now he didn’t know where the hell Carlo could be. He walked out of the kitchen and back to his bedroom just as the phone rang again.

“Hello.”

“Julian…”

“Eve…” he said then sat his beer down. The way she sounded when she said his name, told him right away that something was wrong. “What’s the matter?”

“I need for you to come down to the hospital now…”

“I’ll be there as soon as possible.”

Julian called Ivy and asked if she could come over and watch the boys for a little while and she said yes. As soon as she arrived, he was off. Julian arrived at Harmony General in record time then ran inside and found Eve sitting down in one of the chairs to the right of the nurse’s station.

“Eve!” Julian called out to her. He then watched as she ran over to him and threw her arms around his neck tight.

“Julian, I was so scared.” She sobbed out.

“Scared of what?”

“He’s here Julian…”

“Who’s here?”

“Carlo.” She said as she pulled away from him slowly.

“What did he do to you Eve?” Julian asked as he took her by the hand and walked outside of the hospital.

“I was getting ready to open up my car door and next thing I knew, I was being pushed hard into my side door. I didn’t know what to do.”

“Do you know what room he’s in?” Julian asked her while squeezing her hands softly.

She nodded then took him by the hand and led him to where Carlo was. They arrived in front of Carlo’s room just as his new doctor came out.

“Eve, I’m glad you’re here. Mr. Luciano has been asking to see you.” Dr. Brown said.

“Thanks Ben.” Eve said then watched as Dr. Brown walked away.

“I’m not letting you go in there by yourself Eve.” Julian said.

“I wasn’t about to go in there with him by myself anyways.”

Julian smiled then opened the door for them both to go inside.

Once inside, Julian closed the door and stood in the corner next to the door so that Carlo couldn’t see him. Just looking at Carlo’s face made Julian want to go over there and punch his lights out again! Carlo was resting peacefully on his bed when he heard his door open. He opened his slowly and watched as Eve made her way over to the side of his bed but not close enough for him to touch her.

“It’s good to see your face again Eve.”

“I wish I hadn’t seen yours again.” She scoffed.

Carlo sighed.

“I know that you must be angry with me.”

“I wouldn’t use the word angry, I’d use something else.”

“Would you at least let me explain why I did what I did?” Carlo asked.

“Why should I?” She sneered. “You tried to kill my husband.”

“I know…”

“How could you do this to me? I thought you were my friend.”

“I didn’t want to be your friend. I love you Eve and I’ll never stop.”

“Whatever…” Eve rolled her eyes.

“Julian is the one responsible for what happened to me you know…”

“And why should I believe you?”

“Because it’s the truth.” Carlo said. “He had my kidnapped and tortured for six months! And the only way I knew how to stay alive was by thinking of you.”

Eve scoffed.

“I could never love you. So why do you continue to pursue me?”

“Because I will not rest until I have you in my bed.”

Suddenly, Eve’s hand came out of nowhere and slapped Carlo across his face.

“You nasty bastard! How dare you say something like that to me?! You tried to take Julian away from me and my children!” Eve screamed out and was about to hit him again when Julian’s hands stopped her.

Julian looked Carlo in the eyes and wanted to kill him, but first, he had to console his wife.

“He’s not worth your anger Eve.” Julian whispered in her ear.

“Once I’m well enough Julian, I will kill you and have Eve.” Carlo sneered.

Julian suddenly drew back from Eve and ushered her to get behind him. He then reached down and picked Carlo up by the front of his hospital gown and brought him close to his face.

“Listen here you jackass, nobody threatens my life in front of my wife. I don’t know how you escaped, but I’m gonna tell you this one time and one time only.” Julian sneered. “If I ever see your slimy face around my wife, my children or any of my friends, I will kill you where you stand.” Julian spat then threw him roughly back on his bed.

Carlo winced in pain after Julian threw him back down on his bed. He then watched as Julian took Eve by the hand and walked out of the room. Julian’s threat meant nothing to Carlo as he decided to dose off and have pleasant dreams about him and Eve making love again.

After leaving the hospital, Julian followed closely behind Eve from his motorcycle as they arrived back home. Once they were inside, Julian found Ivy on the couch sleep and decided not to wake her. Eve walked passed him and went to go check in on William and Kellen. Five minutes later, Eve walked in their bedroom and found Julian sitting up on the bed waiting for her.

“Eve I have something really important to tell you.” Julian said.

Eve walked over to him and sat down beside him.

“What is it?”

Julian hesitated a minute before speaking.

“We got a letter earlier today from the Marks Correctional Facility.”

“Why?”

“Rebecca escaped Eve.” Julian finished then watched the color from Eve’s face drain.

“Escaped…” Eve whispered.

He nodded.

“I think I’m gonna be sick…” Eve mumbled before hopping off the bed fast and running straight to the bathroom.

The following morning, Eve called into work and told them that she was taking an immediate vacation. She just couldn’t believe that this was happening all over again. First Carlo and now Rebecca! She didn’t know what to do.

Julian had gotten up earlier then Eve and let Ivy out. He then went into the kitchen and cooked breakfast for everyone. Just like Eve, he didn’t know what to do, but he knew one thing for sure, that he had to protect his family at all cost. After breakfast was ready, he went into the living, walked over to the phone and dialed a number.

“Hello?” the person on the other end of the phone said.

“Marco, this is Julian.”

“What is it Julian? Is anything wrong with the kids or Eve?” he asked in a frantic voice.

“No, but I need to meet with you later on this afternoon.” Julian ran a hand through his hair.

“How about I come over right now?”

“Are you sure you can come over this early?”

“Yeah, I’m on my way.”

When Marco hung the phone up, he already knew what this was about. He had gotten a call from Harmony General last night. Carlo was back and he still was after Eve. Marco walked over to the side of his bed and pulled out his phone book. He needed to know how Carlo escaped from Allegra and Celia.

Once everyone was finished with breakfast, Julian placed everyone’s dishes in the dishwasher then walked over to William and took him out of his booster seat. Eve stood up with Kellen in her arms and walked out of the kitchen and into the living room. She placed him in his bassinet, then walked over to the couch and sat down. She looked to her right and watched as Julian with William in his arms came and sat down next to her.

“I talked to Marco earlier. He should be on his way over here.” Julian said as he ran his hand through William’s hair.

Eve nodded.

“Is what Carlo said last night about what happened to him true Julian?” Eve suddenly asked.

Julian thought about lying to her but then he thought it would be best to just come clean.

“Yes. I had him kidnapped. He wasn’t supposed to be seen here again.”

“I see.” Eve said then looked down at her hands.

“Eve…” she held her hand up.

“You don’t have to worry about anything. I’m not mad at you.”

Julian leaned over and kissed Eve softly on the lips before drawing back quickly when the doorbell rang. Julian was about to get up and answer the door, but Eve placed her hand on his shoulder and told him that she would answer it.

Getting up from the couch, Eve walked through the hallway and to the front door. When she turned the knob and pulled the door open, her eyes grew huge with fear. And she did the first thing that came to mind…she screamed!
