“You must be cold, let me get some heat in here.”

“It is rather chilly.” She said simply.

When the car started to warm up, Eve removed her shawl, placing it on her lap. Julian stared at her for a moment in the beautiful dress she was wearing, but averted his eyes quickly, not wanting her to notice.

“How about some music?”

He fumbled for a CD in the pile, but Eve touched his hand and shook her head. He didn’t say anything, but adjusted his seat to move back a bit and stared straight ahead.

“Julian.” She said touching his arm.

“So do you want to stay here or shall we go?”

“We can stay here for a bit.”

“Fine.” He said, turning to look at her, frustration in his eyes.

“Talk to me please.”

“I don’t know what to say, we shouldn’t even be here.”

“I know you are thinking, as I have come to know you, you have a huge heart and you are always open about your feelings so go ahead.” Eve said.

“Eve, I was honest about my feelings with you and look what happened, I lost control, I love you so very much and everything just came out and then I…”

He stopped, thinking about how he dragged her.

“You were upset.”

“Yes I was, I was very upset because you turned me down, but something came over me and…oh Eve, I meant everything I said to you. It does kill me to see you with T.C. I don’t mean to say that, I just can’t help it. But I am so sorry that I frightened you the way I did.”

“I was scared.”

“I know and it was wrong of me to resort to that level, please believe that I would never intentionally hurt you. But I am human and I make mistakes like everyone else.” Julian said.

“We all do, and I made the mistake of saying that I would go with you and changing my mind, I don’t mean to lead you on, that was wrong of me. But I am trying to do the right thing.”

“I thought you were serious about Paris and you made me so deliriously happy. I understand you want to do the right thing, but I still know that you love me Eve. I know that you are very scared to go forth with your actions, but I don’t think you can deny that if not all of you, a part of you, wants to be with me. But because of what I did, I would understand if you chose not to.”

“All I know is that my heart shattered when I thought that T.C. killed you.”

“He could have easily put me in my grave.”

“I know and that scares the hell out of me, it always has, but this time, oh Julian, I don’t know what I would do if I had lost you. I felt like I did on the Crane jet when you saved me. I said then I needed you in my life and now that I almost lost you, it hurts even more.”

“Look, maybe this was a wake up call for both of us. But all I know is that I still do love you, no matter what Eve.”

“I know you do.” She said touching his face.

He placed his hand over hers for a moment, looking into her eyes.

“I don’t know what to do or what to say now Eve. But I don’t think we can go on like this anymore. I still want you all to myself as selfish as that sounds.”

“I know you’re serious Julian and I shouldn’t toy with your emotions, but what can I say about it either? You know my situation, you know that I can’t abandon Whitney or Simone.”

“What about T.C.?” he asked softly.

She looked away from him, but he touched her cheek, stroking it ever so lightly with his fingers.

“I understand you need to be there for your girls, I was wrong in wanting you to just up and leave them as you are their mother. But T.C., do you truly love him enough that you can give me up completely?”

“That’s quite the question.”

“I want an honest answer dear, do you love him whole heartedly? If I were not apart of your life, if today was the last day we could ever see each other, how would you truly feel? Take out the fact that T.C. tried to kill me, beyond that, would you really be able to live without me Eve?”

“You are putting me on the spot.”

“Eve, if we keep up how things are, we will never know if we can have a future and you won’t be able to think clearly who you truly love. I don’t want to see you confused anymore Eve.”

“As I told you before, I may want you, but I can’t exactly act on it.”

“Eve, that is your head talking, not your heart, be honest with yourself and with me.”

“I like how our relationship was Julian, I liked having you to count on, to run to, to be my friend. When I was sad, I loved having you share my hurt. You have developed into such an amazing man. I could have never trusted you before and now, I trust you more than life itself Julian.”

“If you trust me, then be honest with me. I want to be here for you, but I can’t help but want more than friendship. I want to be the Julian you have come to know, but I want more.”

“We are married Julian.”

“So what.”

“So, I told you I take my vows seriously.”

“And I take love seriously Eve, what is a marriage without love?”

“I have that with T.C.”

“I know T.C. loves you, and you say you love him, but are you in love with him, there’s a difference.” He said playing with her hair.

“I love him okay?”

Julian pulled her closer to him, and looked her directly in her eyes.

“Tell me that you don’t love me Eve.”
