Simone's Revenge ~ Chapter 3
 by rockstar

FYI: Simone has already turned 18.

"Excuse me. Could I have some service?"
"Oh I'm sorry." Chad apologized, his mind was a complete blank and he had been completely useless since Whitney had walked through the door just moments earlier. "What can I get you?"
"A large coffee...to go," the customer snapped at Chad, obviously still ticked of his current bad customer skills. Chad fixed the man's coffee and took his money and returned the change. After giving Chad an angry look he walked out. Chad didn't really seem to notice it though. He was just glad the man was gone, now he had a clear view of Whitney again or at least the back of her head.
God, how pitiful he was. Staring at the back of a woman's head who has treated more badly in the past two years than any other woman has his entire life. And she couldn't even look at him. Then why did she come here? Chad continued to ask himself that question afraid to go over and find out the answer. The last thing Chad needed was Round 498 of their continuous disagreement. Chad began pondering his mixed thoughts in his head.
'Why did she come here? It would be different if she were meeting Theresa, they always meet each other at the Book Cafe, but Theresa was on her honeymoon with Ethan. So why? She has a coffee machine at her house. She isn't reading a book, but she has books at her house too. The way she talked yesterday, I'd think she would read every book she owned 10 times over before she came to see me someplace.'
Feeling angered and hurt Chad slammed the towel from his hands down onto the counter and tried to calmly walk over to the table Whitney was sitting at.
"Peachy day, huh sweetheart?"
"Chad, hey how are you?" immediately after the words left her mouth, Whitney realized she had said the wrong thing.
"How am I? Let's see, I'm breathing. I think that's the only thing I have going for me right now."
Chad's words brought a look of guilt to Whitney's face.
"Why did you come here? I mean according to you, we're over. So why came here and rub it in my face that you won't let us be together?"
"I wasn't trying to rub it in your face."
"Really? Then why are you here?"
Whitney looked up at Chad. He had a look of determination on his face. It was the same look he had on his face when he was waiting for the results of his DNA test. His determination was just one of the many things she loved about him. And the fire in his eyes made her nervous because she had no idea what he was going to do next.
Chad saw the way she was looking at him. Like she wanted him. 'Is that way she came here?'
"I wanted to see you." She whispered so softly that Chad almost didn't hear her.
"You did?" he said, smiling and sounding a bit surprised.
"Everytime I push you away, I convince myself that I can go on and it's all fine during the day. I can keep myself busy playing tennis or teaching kids at the country club, but when I go home and I go to bed all I see is you. This morning, I got up and I tried to get you out of my head, but I couldn't so I went for a walk and before I knew it, I was in front of the Book Cafe and I saw you through the window and something just magically made me open the door and walk in."
Chad having taken a seat across from Whitney reached out and put his hand on hers and smiled. "We can get through this, just say the word."
Whitney just stared into Chad's eyes.
"Say it Whitney. Say we'll tell Simone the truth."
As soon as Chad said her name, Whitney pulled her hand away from Chad's "No."
"What do mean 'no'? Whitney we have to tell her the truth."
"She'll never get over it, Chad."
"I'll never get over you. Do you think that I'm just going to move onto Simone just because you don't want me? That I'll take whichever sister is available at the moment? Do you think I'm just going to fall in love with Simone? Do want me to?"
Chad look up and saw a familiar face walk through the door. "Fine. I'll rty things your way." Chad got up walked toward the figure and all she could get out was "Hi, Chad." before he gathered her into his arms and placed his lips over hers.

Simone didn't quite understand what happened, but that was all right. All she knew was that Chad was kissing her, and very good in fact. She of course obliged and moved her arms around his neck to keep their lips locked. After a few wonderful moments, Simone felt Chad's hold around her waist loosen as a sign the kiss was at an end. He pulled away slightly, still with his hands on her hips and their eyes opened.
"Well, good afternoon to you too." Simone said smiling.
"It is most defiantly a good afternoon...now." Chad stepped back and turned around just in time to see the door to the back alley closing and with no Whitney in sight, he could only guess who it was taking the back exit. 'Well, this is want, Whitney.'
Chad turned back around to see and glowing Simone and looked down and took hold of her hand. "Ya know what, I have to work until 4 so why don't you meet me after I get off."
"Ok, where?"
"Lighthouse Park."
'PERFECT!' Simone screamed in her head. "That's sounds great."
"Great so I'll see ya then."
"Yeah, oh, could I get some coffee before I go?"
"Oh you want some coffee? Okay." Chad said walking behind the counter.
"Yeah I want some coffee. Don't think I came here just to see you." she said flirtatiously, 'Yep everything is going perfectly.'
