Gwen sat down on a park bench and frowned. Why couldn’t her mother just come around? Was it so hard to believe that you didn’t have to be wealthy to be a good person? Miguel was a great person, she reasoned in her head. Kind and sweet. A tear fell down her face as her cell phone began to ring.
Wiping the single tear, she picked the phone up and answered it.
"Hello?" She choked trying not to cry, she had learned in her life, that once she began to cry, she couldn’t stop.
"Gwenie you’re crying." Her father’s voice rang out.
"I’m fine dad. Just upset about mother."
"Yes, well that woman can make anyone cry." He sighed.
Gwen chuckled. "Why did you call dad?"
"I was thinking about that boy you’re dating. Micah is it?"
"Miguel daddy and he’s not a boy. He’s an adult." She frowned.
"Yes of course he is sweetheart. Anyway, I want you to bring him to dinner one night this week." Her dad said.
"Daddy no! I won’t allow Mother to mistreat him."
"Mother won’t be here."
"We’re not serious dad, please not yet." She pleaded.
"Gwen dear, if you are even thinking of getting serious with the young man, I want to meet him. Dinner this week Gwen."
She sighed. "I’ll have to find out what night he can come."
"Fine. You talk to the boy and get back to me."
"He’s a man dad." She stressed into the phone.
"If you say so dear. Just let me know what night." He finished hanging up.
Gwen let out a deep sigh. Her father meeting Miguel, Miguel meeting her father, why did that scare her? Deep down she knew, it was because she had finally opened her heart again. Ethan had shattered her, and Miguel had changed that. He made her smile again, and she never thought another man would be able to do that. The simple truth was, her father meeting Miguel meant Miguel was in her life. Not just someone she had fun with, he was there, acknowledge by everyone.
No, it wasn’t serious. No way was she ready for serious with Miguel. She had only been serious with one man, Ethan. She knew Miguel was young, but many times she wondered if he knew more about love than she did. He had loved Charity Standish, she remembered the sweet shy girl young Miguel cared for. That was when she hated his family, but she could remember thinking how cute Miguel looked, and how happy he seemed with this young blonde. Her family had no idea she ever thought about such things. But she had, she had looked at couples in Harmony, from rich to poor, and watched them. Sheridan and Luis, now that was a couple. They were meant to be, till the very end they stood strong. A smile came to her face as she thought about Sheridan.

I’m telling you Gwen, Luis is wonderful. Too bad I can’t fix you up with someone like him."
"Sheridan I don’t need a man." She insisted.
"If only he had a twin." Sheridan laughed. "You need someone to make you happy Gwen. Happy like Luis makes me."
Gwen shook her head and sipped her coffee. "I’ve got work, it makes me happy.":
"Oh Gwen, you need a man, someone to come home to."
"I’m not like you Sher. Work suits me just fine. "
"Luis does have some friends ya know." Sheridan said winking.
"Oh Sher. My parents would die." She giggled.
Sheridan shrugged. "Money doesn’t make a marriage. Love does."
"Yes I suppose."
"Gwen I know so." Sheridan told her. "Look at me. I have two children and a sexy husband. He’s not in Father’s circle and quite frankly I’m glad."
Gwen smiled. "I wish I could be like you Sher. But I’m not. You’re stronger than I am. You fought your Father and Julian to be with Luis. I don’t think I could do that."
Sheridan smiled sweetly. "If the right man comes along, Gwen you’ll be willing to fight anyone to keep him. Even Rebecca."
"Well it won’t happen. I’ll never love another man again!"
"Yeah right. Gwen it will happen for you again one day, but this time it will last" Sheridan smiled hugging her best friend.

Gwen laughed. "I guess I found the next best thing to Luis, Sher." She said wiping a tear. "But will it really last?"

Miguel opened the door to his brother’s house stopping at the entrance. Inside his mother sat looking through photos. A very small smile sitting on her face.
"Mama, I thought I’d find you here." Miguel said as Pilar looked up.
"Miguel, I was just looking at these photos. Happy times are good to remember." She replied.
Miguel walked over and sat down next to Pilar. "We’ll have more happy times Mama."
"Yes son I know." She said looking at him. "Its just hard to see them right now."
"I know Mama. But they will come again."
She looked at her son. "Miguel, you and Theresa are both finding love, that makes me happy."

Love?
Did his Mama just say Love?
No, he didn’t Love Gwen.
He liked Gwen.
She was hot! But Love.
"Mama, Theresa and Chad do love each other I believe." Miguel said trying to avoid where is mother was going.
"And you son, do you love Gwen?"

There it was.
Out on the table.
The question.

"Love is a strong word Mama." Miguel began.
"Yes son, I realize that. Are you in love with her?"
Miguel swallowed. "No, I’m not in love with her." He answered.
"But you will be." Pilar smiled.
"Mama!" Miguel said standing up. "Do we have to talk about this?"
Pilar laughed. " Not if you don’t want to. It is you’re life son."
"Yes Mama it is."
"I’m sorry I brought it up." Pilar said looking up at Miguel.
"Don’t be sorry Mama. " He said then frowned. "Do you think its wrong for Theresa and I to be happy right now?"
Pilar smiled. "You and your sister are much alike. I have already talked with her about this."
"What did you tell her Mama."
"Son, you need someone to love. Your brother and Sheridan would want you both to be happy."
"They would want you to be happy also."
Pilar frowned. "Your mama has been happy. But its your time for that now."
Miguel shook his head and hugged Pilar. "I want us all to be happy again."
"Perhaps we will my son, perhaps someday we will."

Julian Crane walked into his home and smiled as Ivy greeted him. "Jada is upstairs playing."
"That’s wonderful dear."
Ivy crossed her arms. "Did you talk to that woman?" She questioned her eyes angered at the thought of this stranger coming into her family’s life.
"Yes. And just as I suspected she is up to no good."
Ivy frowned and touched Julian’s hand lightly. "Money? Does she want our money?"
Julian rubbed his temples. "Perhaps, but she’s not getting a penny. I will make sure that woman is gone from my son’s life soon."
Ivy hugged Julian kissing his cheek. "Oh Julian, I’m so glad you’re protecting Chad like that. You’ve really changed."
Julian smiled. "Thank you darling, I’m trying to right my wrongs."
Ivy nodded and looked at her husband. "Speaking of righting your wrongs, there is someone in your study to see you."
"Really?"
"Yes, I believe you’ve been waiting for this guest." She smiled at Julian.
Taking a deep breath he knew just what his wife meant. "I suppose its time."
"Yes dear it is."
Julian walked slowly to his study and opened the door, stopping to let out a huge sigh. Walking in he looked at the man who stood in front of him.
"Hello Martin, its been awhile."
