Chapter 4

“What do you want?” Eve asked with a frown.

“Now, is that any way to greet your sister?” Liz chided.

“What do you want?” Eve repeated as she crossed her arms.

“Your family is falling apart Eve.” Liz said gleefully. “TC is furious at you for leaving that conversation earlier. But don’t worry, I comforted him.”

“TC needs to grow up. I’m a doctor, this is what I do. And as for you Liz, you need to mind your own business. Yes, I’ve made mistakes in my past, but I’ve apologized for them and I’ve moved on from them. I’m sorry for leaving you, but I didn’t know what you were going through. Now grow up and move on.” Eve spat
in disgust.

“But … but …” Liz stammered.

Eve didn’t give her a second glance as she walked past her out the door. “I’m tired of being bullied.” Were her final words.

“Oh it’s not over yet Eve.” Liz called after her.

Eve walked out the front doors of the hospital and looked around for Julian.

“Over here.” A voice said from the shadows.

Eve looked over to find Julian leaning against the wall. He stepped into the light when she began to walk towards him.

“Sorry it took so long. Liz showed up to torment me.” Eve said when she reached him.

“Are you okay?” He asked her as he tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

“I am now.” She said smiling up at him. “Ready for that walk?”

“Yep.” They quietly began to stroll towards the wharf.

It was a beautiful night. The sky was crystal clear and hundreds of twinkling stars could be seen surrounding a bright crescent moon. When they reached the wharf Julian took Eve’s hand in his and intertwined their fingers. Eve looked down at their hands and smiled. She moved closer to him and looked up to find Julian’s warm hazel eyes looking at her. She smiled wider.

Eve had always loved Julian’s quiet power. She thought back on all the times in the past few months that he had stood by her side, quietly offering his moral support and his love. It seemed like Julian had been offering more support to her than her own husband. She loved him for it.

“Wait.” Eve thought. “I love him? I can’t love him, I’m married to TC.” Eve lapsed into quiet thought.

Julian glanced at Eve out of the corner of his eye. She looked like she was deep in thought. It was one of the things that he loved about her, she was thoughtful. She always cared about other people, whether she needed to or not. Not to mention, even after everything that Liz had done to her she still cared about her. He’d never met anyone like her.

“Cold?” He asked when he saw her shiver.

“I’ll be okay. The breeze off the ocean is a little cool that’s all.” Eve answered. “I forgot my jacket.”

Julian pulled her to his side and nestled her close. “Better?” He asked as he secured her to his side with his arm.

“Much.” She said as she snuggled closer.

They walked a little longer before either of them spoke.

“I’m sorry you’re going through all this Eve. You don’t deserve it.”

“I want to thank you again for all your support Julian. It means the world to me.” Eve said. She gave him a sideways hug by tightening her arm around his waist.

Julian stopped walking and pulled Eve into a two armed hug. “I love you Eve and I’ll do anything for you. I never want you to doubt that.”

“You proved that when you took the blame for the fire I started. I’ll never forget that Julian.” She pulled his head down to hers and joined their lips.

What started out as a thank you kiss quickly turned into a passionate one. Julian pulled Eve closer as she tilted her head to deepen the kiss. Their tongues mated in a wild dance as they tangled with each other.

“What the hell is going on here?” A shocked voice yelled.

Eve and Julian jumped apart to see a surprised Rebecca.
