Bobbie was upset. Today had been, for lack of a better term, the day from hell. Her confrontation with Stefan left her weary. Usually, fighting with that SOB gave her an extra kick, but today it did not. Bobbie did not want to think that she was paranoid, but things were not going right for her at the hospital. Plans that she made, teaching assignments were rescinded, and other little things that added up to one conclusion: Stefan was sabotaging her behind the scenes. She thought that once that horrendous drug thing was cleared, that she would be untouchable around the hospital. How could she have been THAT naive to think that? The man RUNS the friggin' hospital, she thought to herself, and I gave up my financial independence for my nursing job? Man, talk about being blind to common sense when emotions take over. I don't know what I am going to do, thought Bobbie. But Whatever it is, I cannot let that man ruin the place where I work. The phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Bobbie. It's me, Tony. Look, I have to go into an emergency surgery. Could you pick up Lucas? He's at Ruby's"
"Sure. No Problem."
"Thanks. Bye"
"Bye."
Bobbie got her jacket on and went to pick up Lucas. I am going to enjoy time with my son, and put Stefan Cassadine out of my mind. What a time for regrets and hindsight.
"God, if I had to do it all over again, Mr. Cassadine, I would haul
your ass into court and make it as long and as painful as possible. You
fawning over that wench. Like she's the prize of the century. Hell, she
couldn't even handle Damian. Oh, well, can't cry over spilled milk."
Jax is in the Penthouse. He just received a letter, special delivery, from Brenda. He sits down and reads it.
"Dear Jax,
You'll never know how much I appreciate all your help. Both Sonny & I do. We would not have been able to defeat Rivera if not with your help.
But I think that it's time we really made a clean break of thing. You helping me, while heroic, I fear gave you false hope of a possible reconcilication between us. And I'm, sorry. but that's not possible. I love Sonny and my place is with him, by his side.
I hope that you understand this. I think that we need to sever all contact for a while. Being around you is just too awkward for me right now. And I know that it must be uncomfotable for you, too.
You need a life of your own, Jax. You need and deserve someone who makes you as happy as Sonny makes me. Someone who can return all the treasures and gifts that you have to offer.
I am sorry, but that person is not me. And even though I'll miss you, I know this is for the best. For both of us. Maybe one day we can even be good friends. I certainly hope so. Take care of yourself.
Brenda
Jax read and reread the letter. So, It's really over, he thought. Brenda had actually chosen that Mobster over him. Even after he put her life at risk once again, she still wouldn't leave him. He thought that becoming a fugitive would finally shake some sense into her. But obviously not.
Jax took the letter, crumbled it and threw it away.
"I've got to get the bloody hell out of here".
Damn, he thought, his plane was still being repaired from his outing with Velma, The Trooper. Velma, UGH, nice girl for a stalker. I'm so glad that I was able to pull enough connections to have her transferred out of state, he thought.
Well, I guess the company jet will have to do. He calls the airport.
"Hello. This is Jasper Jacks. I would like the J&J Jacks Jet ready for me in an 30 minutes."
"I am sorry Mr. Jacks. It will take us about an hour to prepare it. And you will have to use one of the commercial terminals, as the private plane terminal is under repairs. Please come to Terminal 4."
"Alright, an hour then."
Alexis Davis was at Wyndermere. Her plan for splitting Katherine and Stefan was on schedule. But, as usual, she was prepared with a second option. But things were going iffy with option number two. She places a call.
"This is Alexis Davis. Have you done as I asked?.... What do you mean NO? Let me be blunt with you. You do the assigned task, or I will make sure that you will not be able to get a job sweeping streets! Is THAT clear?.....I thought so. And of course, when your task is completed, you will contact me, and no one else. Understood?"
Alexis slammed the phone down. Stefan walked in.
"Alexis, what has you so upset?"
Dara Jensen was running late. Her meeting with her superiors had gone horribly. They were very unhappy at how the Dorman murder played out. Like she was to blame for them looking like fools when Brenda Barrett was exonterated? Sometimes, the system works. But it also sucks when your bosses get mad about it working.
Now, she had to go to NYC for this godforesaken conference on the constitutionality in certain legal proceedings for local jurisdictions based upon recent Supreme Court decisions. Great, she thought, 4 days with overworked, underpaid, asst DA's like myself. I know tha bunch. Extremely frustrated, disillusioned, and growing more bitter by the day.
Her superiors, being the cheap bastards that they were, had her booked in a second tier hotel, after they blew reservations at the hotel where the conference was being held.
Her washer and dryer were on the fritz, so that totally threw her off schedule for packing, as she scrambled to find clean clothes to wear. Damn, she thought, tell me again why I like my job. Outside she heard the cab blowing his horn for her. She stuffed the last of her clothes into the black carry-on and closed it. Running our the door, she barely had time to make her flight.
"Can this day get any worse", she uttered to herself. She immediatley regretted speaking it out loud. Of course it can...it's Jensen's Law. Anytime my life looks like it's the pits, I come up with a new abyss. Well, she thinks, I hope this cabbie knows a shortcut to the airport.
Nikolas was sitting at Bannister's Wharf. God, he could not stand going back to the hospital and making out yet another lame report. He took out the letter from Lesley. She had sent him a letter, complete with drawings from Lulu and pictures of her birthday party. Staring at the picture of Lulu holding Sylvester, Nikolas thought of just how much he missed his little sister.
"Nikolas?"
"Oh, Hi Emily."
"Well, since I'm not what you were looking for, I guess I'll leave you alone."
"Emily, no, don't go. I'm sorry, but I was lost in thought."
"What is that you were looking at so intensely when I snuck up on you?"
"It's a picture of my sister. She just turned 3."
"May I see? Gosh, she really is a beautiful little girl."
"She sure is."
"So, what are you doing here? I thought that you had this bigtime position at ths hospital. That's what my Dad told me."
"I'm over the teen counseling program. But, between you and me, sometimes I just need a break."
"Wasn't Sarah in that program?"
"Yes...she was."
"It's a shame that she and her sister had to leave Port Charles and go to Germany. I hope that their dad is recuperating well from the attack in Bosnia."
"Me too."
"I guess it's a good thing that I ran into you. I was going to ask you if I could join the teen program for the rest of the summer. Now that this Dorman mess is all over with, my parents are finally letting me alone. That is....if you'd want me..."
"Emily, of course I'd love your help. Why would you think otherwise."
"Because of my problems.....there might be some people that would not want their kids around me."
"Nonsense. Emily, I know that you are better. In fact, I have been wanting to apologize to you."
"To Me?"
"Yes...I have not exactly been a great friend lately. I have had so many problems of my own, I have been sort of self-involved."
"Nikolas, that's OK. I got all your letters and gifts. And believe me, they helped. Well, my family will be happy to know that I will be doing something productive until school starts. You want to go get a snowcone."
"A snowcone?"
(laughing) "Sometimes Nikolas, I forget that you really are a foreigner. So, let me introduce you to the world of snowcones. Come on Raoul."
They begin to walk away when Emily notices that Nikolas has dropped something.
"Nikolas, you left something. Here it is."
"Oh, thanks."
It was a letter than Nikolas had sent to someone...that was marked "Return
to sender"......
Bobbie and Lucas had returned to the Brownstone. But since it was such a nice night out....they decided to go rollerblading.
"Mom, the telephone's ringing."
"Honey, let the machine get it, and come on."
"OK. Coming."
The machine comes on.
"I hope that this is the residence of Barbara Jean Cassadine. My
name is Manuel Santiago. I am at the Hall of Records Office down here in
the Dominican Republic. The reason that I have contacted you is to inform
you that your divorce is null and void. Before we were able to transfer
the records to the Final records file and databank, there was a horrible
fire down here, that destroyed all but a few of the records. You are one
of the lucky ones. We were able to scrape up the profile on you. Others,
well, they are still married, but we are unable to tell them. If you make
your way down to the Dominican Republic, we will do the divorce over again,
free of charge. Please contact me at the following number so that I can
send you the what files on you that I have. My telephone number is......................
