The Best Laid Plans- Chapter 73
“ Well, Carly. You’re dialated that last centimeter. I think it’s time we go and have a baby, don’t you?”
” OWWW! Yes!!”
“ Mr. Morgan, put your gown on, and follow us.” Carly is wheeled out of the room. As they go down the hall, they do not observe Tony standing in the shadows.

“ Stefan, you paged me?”, Alexis says while walking into the GH Library.
” Yes, Alexis. Close the door.”
Alexis closes the door, but it doesn’t catch all the way, and there is a small crack. She then goes over to the desk and sits down.
“ What can I do for you, Cousin?”
“ We have to make sure, that, on a moment’s notice, that we will be able to go to Greece.”
” Why? What’s happened? Last we spoke, you were only considering this.”
” Barbara and I have had discussions.”
“ And?”
” And, I do not want to be left in the vulnerable position of having to consider the possibility that I might not be in this child’s life.”
” What did Bobbie say to you?”
” That she is uncertain if she wants this child to be under the ‘Cassadine’ influence.”
” Logically speaking cousin, who in their right mind, would?”
Stefan glares at Alexis.
” Ok....Alright. I understand. Bobbie doesn’t know if she wants you in the baby’s life. And, you are trying to shore up your position. Stefan, Bobbie’s not dumb. I don’t think that she’ll just agree, out of the blue, to go to Greece. If she’s suspect about the Cassadines on American soil, I can only imagine what she’d think about going back to Cassadine home soil.”
“ I know. But, we may get ONE moment, Alexis. One moment where Barbara’s guard is down, and I would be able to influence her. At that one moment, I want to be prepared to take advantage of the situation. That is why, I want a Cassadine Jet fully feuled and ready for takeoff, at all times.”
“ That will be expensive.”
” It does not matter. Nothing matters, except that I won’t be denied a place in this child’s life. And, if reasoning with Barbara will not work, then, I will just have to do what is neccessary to insure it.”
“ Ok. I will make all the arrangements. Before you whisk Bobbie off to Greece, you have to get her back to Wyndemere. How is that going?”
“ I believe that I have made a compelling argument as to why Barbara and our child would be in a better position at Wyndemere than her Brownstone.”
“ Well, I hope so. Stefan, I will do as you instruct, but, I will remind you, of what happened to Tony Jones when he tried to take Lucas away from her. Don’t think that Bobbie is just going to let you take her child. It won’t happen.”
“ That is why I need every possible resource at my call. Having the law on your side is a great benefit. Plus, I believe once I get Barbara to Greece, she will understand that it would be to the child’s best interest, to have both of its parents in its life. Well, I have to leave. Barbara’s doctors are coming for a checkup, and I told her that I would be there. Goodbye, Alexis.” Stefan kisses her.
” Bye cousin.”
Stefan leaves the Library, unaware that Sasha has heard everything.

“ PUSH Carly.”, Dr. Newman orders.
“ ARRRGGH!” Carly grunts while pushing. Jason is holding her hand.
“ Damn, Carly. I didn’t know you were this strong.” Jason looks at his hand, which is throbbing due to the pressure Carly’s been giving it.
“ Mr. Morgan, be thankful. Your hand is still in tact. I’ve known many a father to have a broken one after childbirth. Come on, Carly. Just a couple more pushes.”
” No...I can’t...GOD...THIS HURTS!!”
“ Come on, Carly. Do what the doctor says. Push.”
” You know, Jason, this isn’t easy.”
” Actually, it looks like hell. Glad, I don’t have to do it.”
” You know, Mr. Morgan, you’re the first father brave enough to actually say it. Most lie to their wives that they’d take the pain, if they could.”
” But, they can’t. So, why lie about it?”
” I don’t know. Empathy perhaps. So, Carly. Bear down, and let’s see if we can’t get a baby soon.”
The monitors on Carly begin to jump. Jason whips his head around to Dr. Newman.
“ What’s going on?”
” Exactly what I was afraid of. Carly’s Blood Pressure is shooting through the roof. And, she’s really started to bleed. Carly? Carly?”
Jason looks at Carly, who seems passed out.
“ She’s passed out.”
” Damn. Sorry, Mr. Morgan, we’re going to have to perform an emergency C-section on her. You have to go.”
“ NO. I stay with Carly and the baby.”
“ Fine. But, get out of my way.” To the staff in the room. “ Let’s get started. C-Section.
They get everything ready when..
“ Dr. The Patient is awake.”
Jason rushes over to Carly. “ Carly?”
” Jason?”
“ Carly, you gotta push. Focus on me. Hold my hand. Push Carly, Push.”
” Jason, I feel so weak.”
” COme on. You can do it...NOW!”
Carly summons up the strength from somewhere, bears down and gives that
push.
They listen for a minute.
” Well, here we are.” Dr. Newman clears the passage way. Soon, the cry of a baby is heard.
“ Do you hear that, Mom and Dad? Baby Morgan has arrived. Mr. Morgan, would you do the honors?”
Jason goes over to the Doctor and takes the baby. He brings it over to Carly, who smiles at Jason.
” Jase?”
“ Yeah, Carly. Look. You done good.”
” Remember your promise.”
Carly passes out again and the monitors alert the staff that Carly has crashed.
“ What’s going on here? Doctor?”
“ Mr. Morgan, over there. The nurse will take the baby. I have to try and save your wife.”
Jason hands the baby over to the nurse, and he watches as the medical staff tries to revive Carly. After several minutes, he sees the machines blinking again, telling that Carly’s heartbeat has been revived.
“ Mr. Morgan, may I see you outside?”, Dr. Newman asks.

Helena Cassadine is taking her afternoon tea on her yacht when Ari comes in.
“ Yes, Ari.”
” I thought that you would like the latest report from out operatives in Port Charles.”
“ You are correct. Leave me and make sure that dinner is on time, tonight.”
“ Yes, Ma’am.”
Helena reads the report.
” Well, well, Stefan. Seems as if you’re going to be a father again.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“ The doctor seems pleased with your progress, Barbara.”
” Yes. I should be getting out of here soon, I hope.”
“ And, where will you be residing?”
“ I agree with you, Stefan. That, for the sake of the child, it would be best if I were to go back with you to Wyndemere. But, you must know, that this really settles nothing. We still....”
Bobbie stops talking as Jason walks into the room.
” Jason?”
” I thought you should know. Carly had the baby.”
” So soon? It’s too early.”
” He’s three weeks premature. But, the doctors say that his lungs are ok. And, everything else.”
“ He? I have a grandson?”
” Yea.”
” What’s wrong, Jason?”
” Carly went into cardiac arrest right after birth. They revived her, but, she’s still unconscious. I just thought you should know.” Jason leaves.
“ I’m sorry, Barbara. If there is anything I can do..”
” Thank you, Stefan. But, I don’t know if there is. Actually, there is.”
” Name it.”
“ I want to talk to Dr. Newman myself. I have my own questions for her.”
“ I’ll find her and bring her here.”
“ Thank you, Stefan.”
Stefan leaves Bobbie in her room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jason is sitting by Carly’s bedside.
“ Well, sorry I left for awhile. I went and told Bobbie about you. I don’t know if that’s what you would want me to do, but, I thought if anyone would care, it would be her. The doctor says that you could be out of it for a long time. Or not. It’s a crap shoot. I’ll be here.”
Jason is sitting in the room when a nurse comes by.
” Mr. Morgan?”
” Yes. “
” I thought you should know. It’s feeding time for your son.”
” So. Don’t you do that? This is a hospital.”
” Mr. Morgan, we try and encourage immediate bonding between parent and child. Now, usually, we do that by having the mother breastfeed. But, Mrs. Morgan is unable to do that in her condition. You can feed him with a bottle. Establishing a bond with the child is very important in these early stages.”
” Ok. I’m coming. Carly, I’m going to feed the kid. I’ll be back.”
Jason and the nurse make it to the Nursery.
“ Jeanine, this is Mr. Morgan. That little one over there is his.”
They give Jason the bottle and take him over to the baby. When Jason gets there, he notices a bandage on the baby’s arm.
“ What’s this?”
“ Oh. We had to draw some blood from the baby.”
” Why? The doctor didn’t say anything about this?”
“ Well, Dr. Jones, and a Deputy showed up with a Court Order for a Bloodtest. We had to draw the blood.”
” DAMN! How DARE you poke this kid, just because that jerk had a piece of paper.”
” That jerk is the father.” Jason spins around to find Tony standing
there. “ Don’t get used to it, Jason. Feeding the baby. I’ve taken the
blood you left, and sent it with mine to get some answers. And, as soon
as the blood test comes back, and it’s proven that he is MY SON, I’ll never
let Carly, and certainly not a thug like yourself, near him.”
