The Imposter II (an alternate version), Chapter 6 (Evian)
by ejcrane
Eve woke up early the next morning. She turned to look at Julien next to
her. He was still asleep.
Sighing, Eve couldn’t help but wonder if she had been too hard on him the
night before. Shaking her head, she realized that she wasn’t. If Julian
hadn’t been so cruel as to say that he would much prefer to make love to
“Gianna”.
Eve could care less to how Julien was feeling.
She rolled her eyes and walked into the bathroom, shutting the door behind
her. Standing in front of the mirror, Eve slipped the spaghetti straps of
her satin gown off her shoulders and watched it fall to the floor through
the mirror. She looked down while she stepped out of her discarded gown,
only to find Julien standing behind her when she looked back up. His hands
rested on her shoulders as his eyes met hers through the mirror. Julian then
bent his head down and began placing kisses upon her shoulders. He then swept
away her hair and began kissing her neck, using his warm wet tongue.
“Eve…I was such a fool last night,” he whispered into her ear as he nuzzled
her neck, “Please forgive me?” he asked, his hands reached around her and
cupped her breasts.
Letting out a moan, Eve leaned back into Julian. God, her body was on fire…she
hadn’t felt this way in MONTHS!
“Julien, I’m sorry too…” she breathed heavily.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
“Eve, are you okay? I heard you talking to someone…” Julian asked.
Eve opened her eyes and looked back into the mirror. She only saw her reflection;
she was in the bathroom by herself the whole time.
“I’m FINE! LEAVE ME ALONE!” she growled back.
“FINE! BUT HURRY THE HELL UP, DAMNIT!” he barked.
AN HOUR later, Julian kicked the covers off of him and stormed towards
the bathroom door.
“EVE!” he pounded on the door, “IT’S BEEN OVER AN HOUR ALREADY…I HAVE A
JOB TOO!”
There was no answer. Julian then remembered that this door never locked.
He smiled as he opened it slowly and then walked to the shower door and
swung it open.
“JULIEN?!” Eve screamed, trying to cover herself up with her hands, “WHAT
IS THE MATTER WITH YOU?!”
“Nothing…nothing, my darling…just that you’re finished with your bath,”
he reached in and picked up Eve and carried her to the bed and tossed her
onto it, “Now,” he sighed, “I can enjoy whatever’s left of the hot water…”
he said and began walking back to the bathroom.
“Ohh, Julien…” she teased, “You sure you’re going to take a “hot” shower?”
she smiled at him when he turned around.
Eve was lying on her side across the bed, posing for Julian…
“Or…maybe you’ll need a COLD shower,” she trailed her hand down the side
of her still damp body to her thighs…
Julian swallowed and stepped towards her…
“NO!” the seductive look in her eyes turned to one of a cold icy stare,
“Go take your bath!” she said without emotion and wrapped herself in the sheets.
“You damn tease! Now you know why I rather watch those damn videos!”
She watched as Julian stormed into the bathroom and slammed the door behind
him.
“You’re late!” Eve whispered to Julian as he sat beside her amongst the
rest of the parents at the play Simone’s school was having.
“I was swamped…”
“I’m sure you were,” she replied snidely.
“Are you just trying to start some kind of confrontation with me? It seems
that way…” his voice trailed off as he caught a glimpse of Simone on the
stage.
She saw her daddy and waved to him; Julian waved back and smiled.
“Oh, so it’s always me, huh? I’m the one that starts our fights…” Eve was
caught off guard as Julian wrapped an arm around her and pulled her close
to him, capturing her lips with his.
“Shut up, Eve…they’re starting,” he released her and stared straight as
Eve fumed.
Ten minutes into the play, Eve’s breathing was labored as Julian’s lips
worked on her neck in the dark. It was a good thing that they were on the
last row. She didn’t know how she’d explain their inappropriate behavior to
the rest of the parents.
“Julien…Julien,” she whispered into the darkness.
“Yes, darling,” he answered as his hand squeezed her breast, “What is it…”
“We can’t…not here…st—stop…it…”
When they arrived home, Eve and Julian couldn’t keep their hands off each
other. They tore off each other’s clothing and found themselves in their
bed…making love.
Julian couldn’t think. He couldn’t seem to remember his vow to himself,
nor did he want to. Each and everyday that he’d spent in this household, with
the children…with Eve…Julian couldn’t help but love this family his brother
had…this wife his brother had. Eve…she was amazing…she was breathtaking.
The two laid in each other’s arms and drifted off to sleep when then the
telephone rang and Julian picked it up.
GIANNA!
“Uh, just one moment,” he said into the receiver, “Eve, I’m going to have
to take this down in the library…I’ll be back in a few minutes…”
She stared at him dreamily and nodded, closing her eyes, drifting back
to sleep.
Julian placed the call on “hold” and then hung up the receiver and then
ran out of the room, downstairs, and into the library where he picked up the
phone and answered breathlessly.
“Hi, honey,” Gianna greeted him.
“Gianna, sweetheart, it’s four a.m…” he yawned, “Was it important that
you’d call this early?” he rubbed his eyes.
“Well…I’m sorry, I’ll try to find you at a better time…I can’t help that
I wanted to say that I love you…but seeing that I’m bothering you…I’ll just
call back lat---”
“No! Sweetheart, I’m sorry…forgive me. This is just draining; my brother
owes me big for this…”
“Aww, darling, do you want me to take a trip to Harmony…and we can meet
secretly…”
“NO!” Julian shouted, “I’m mean…no, Gianna…uh, this is a very little town,
and everyone knows each other’s business…” he tried to explain himself after
he realized what he had done.
“Ohh…”
Upstairs, Eve was fast asleep when her beeper went off. She pushed the
covers off of her nude body and walked to the dresser in their bedroom and
pulled the pager out of her purse.
It was the hospital, so, Eve walked back over to the phone and picked it
up, totally forgetting that Julien said that he was taking a business call.
She raised it to her ear and was about to dial when she heard his voice…
“I love you too, Gianna…I do…”
“And I you!” Eve heard the woman say, “And I can’t wait until we’re finally
married, darling!”
“Yes, yes…I can’t wait either,” Julian lied, “As soon as I’m through here…that’s
the first thing that we’ll do…”
Eve could not believe what she was hearing. She felt as if…as if she couldn’t
breathe. The phone slipped out from her hand and fell onto the floor, and
that’s when she picked it up carefully and replaced it back onto the carrier.
“Gianna? Is someone else on the line with you?” Julian asked.
“No, I don’t think so…anyways, Julian, I’ve got to go…we’ve been so busy
here without you, darling…but I’ll talk to you soon…”
“Yes, I’ll talk to you later…”
“I love you!”
“I love you…too. Bye.” Julian replied and hung up the phone.
What was she going to do?! He lied to her! He lied to her this whole damn
time! Gianna was not some woman from an adult film…she was a woman Julien
was having an affair with…a woman he planned on marrying, Eve gasped! The
tears were just about to make their way out, when she heard his footsteps
out in the hallway.
Julian entered and found Eve asleep. He sighed. Good! He was so relieved
that it hadn’t been her on the phone. He didn’t know what or how he’d explain
himself out of this one.
He threw his robe off and slipped back in under the covers and made his
way over to Eve. Eve’s eyes shot open when she felt his arms slip around her
body.
She couldn’t do it anymore! No, she couldn’t! And just then, Eve sobbed
quietly.
Feeling her body shake, Julian’s eyes opened.
“Darling, are you cold?” he asked and held her tightly to him.
It was only a few more hours until morning…she could hold off from pulling
out of his arms…and God, how she wanted to! There was gnawing feeling in
the pit of her stomach. She couldn’t stand it…being in his arms was making
her sick!
