A Friendship Blooms
Miguel stood outside staring up at the night sky, he wondered if his brother could see him, if Luis was watching over him somehow. Smiling his my drifted back in time, going to a place that made him feel safe again.
Luis grabbed the basketball from Miguel’s hands, "Hey Bro wanta come
over tonight for dinner?"
"Is Sheridan cooking?" Miguel grinned.
"Of course."
"Then I think I’ll pass." Miguel joked.
Luis shook his head. "You need around people right now, it isn’t good
being alone all the time."
"Luis, I’m fine. Just because Charity is gone, doesn’t mean I’m going
to loose it."
"You sure about that? You know Sheridan and I are always here if you
need us."
"I’m fine, I’ll bounce back. " Miguel grinned watching as Luis made
a basket.
"Not in this game you want." Luis grinned. "One more shot and I win."
Miguel let out a huge breath. "One day I’ll win."
"Sorry Little Brother, that’s not going to happen. Ever."
"Oh yeah? Better watch that bragging Luis." Miguel laughed.
"Hey Miguel, when you gonna start dating again? I mean get back out
there."
Miguel sighed. "Luis, who put you up to this brotherly chat? Mama,
Theresa or Sheridan?" He asked crossing his arms.
"All of the above." Luis admitted. "They said you needed someone to
talk to."
"And they picked you."
:"You got it!"
"Well you’ve done their bidding, so why don’t we just play some ball
now?" Miguel asked.
Luis grinned. "Its about time."
"Mama thinks I’m going to fall in love with Gwen, Luis. What do you
think of that one?" He called up at the sky. "I don’t want to love anyone
yet. " He whispered, fear stirring inside him. He was to afraid to love
Gwen, because if he loved her, he might loose her.

"Julian Crane, I never thought I’d see this place again. "Martin Fitzgerald
stated.
Julian frowned looking at the man, time had aged him, yet he still
had a spark in his eyes. "Martin, I’m sorry for everything."
"A Crane being sorry, tell me Julian is this a first?"
Julian smiled. "You never knew my sister as a grown woman, she was
what a Crane should be, and I want to do as she did." Julian explained.
"Sheridan and my son, I still can’t believe the news." Martin frowned.
"They had a love story that was truly amazing." Julian sighed. "Their
deaths changed everyone who knew them, and for the better might I add."
"They shouldn’t be dead." Martin said looking at him. "They were too
young to die."
Julian frowned. "Wait, do you think I had something do with their deaths?
I can assure you, it was an accident, I’ve had it checked out to make sure."
Martin nodded. "So your father didn’t do this."
"No, Father did not kill my sister or your son."
"And your Father, how does he feel about my home coming?" Martin asked.
Julian grinned. "My father knows where I stand, and he can’t do a thing
about it, unless he wants to be locked up for the rest of his life."
"Firm action Crane. So tell me, when can I see my family? I want more
than the photos you sent me. I need to hold them in my arms, meet my grandchildren
and kiss my wife."
Julian smiled. "At my party Martin, it will all take place then."
"You do realize you will have to explain things to them. Finally tell
everyone the truth."
Julian frowned and crossed his arms. "I am prepared for that Martin.
I’m ready to let everyone know what happened the night you left, I just
pray they understand."
"Yes Julian, that is my hope as well." Martin agreed.

Theresa kissed Chad on the cheek. "Call me tomorrow?" She asked as she
opened the door for him.
"Yeah of course. First thing in the morning." He smiled.
"And we’re really going to be okay?" Theresa asked again.
Nodding Chad touched her face with his hand. "Listen to me Resa, we’re
gonna beat this Carrie thing and move on. You just take care of those kids,
and keep on loving me." He laughed.
"That I can do."
"Just relax a little. Trust what we feel."
Theresa smiled. "I’m still getting used to this trust thing."
"I know girl, but you’re doing fine."
"Theresa thank goodness you’re home!" Gwen yelled walking up on Theresa’s
step. "Hi Chad." She said looking back over at Theresa. " I need a woman
to talk to, and you’re the only one I could think of." She said out of
breath.
Chad grinned. "I’m going to go now." He told them kissing Theresa quickly.
"Talk to you tomorrow." Theresa yelled at him as he walked away.
Gwen rushed into Theresa’s house as Theresa shut the door. "Gwen what
in the world is going on?"
"My life is totally over." She sighed falling on Theresa’s couch.
"Gwen!"
Gwen frowned. "Well maybe its not that bad, but My father wants Miguel
to come over for dinner."
"Gwen that’s great!" Theresa smiled.
"No! No its not! I don’t want daddy meeting Miguel! " Gwen huffed sinking
down on the couch.
"Why not?" Theresa questioned. "And please don’t tell me its because
of his status." She said sternly.
Shaking her head Gwen opened her mouth, "Of course not! How could you
even think that?"
"I don’t know." Theresa shrugged.
"Don’t you get it? Daddy meeting Miguel means we are serious, Theresa
we are so not serious. I don’t want serious, Miguel doesn’t want serious,
we can’t do it. No this just can’t happen." She rambled.
"You need your father’s backing Gwen."
She rolled her eyes. "My mother fainted when she found out Theresa,
can you imagine what would happen if she came in? "
"Fainted?" Theresa gasped sitting down facing Gwen.
"Dropped right to the floor. And daddy, he calls Miguel ‘the boy’,
‘the boy’ Theresa. Miguel would loose his cool in no time flat." She exclaimed.
"Gwen you really need to relax."
"I can’t relax Theresa. I need Sheridan! She would tell me what to
do! I want my best friend." Gwen said lowering her voice as her eyes dropped.
"I know Gwen." Theresa frowned looking at the other woman. "Believe
me I know."
"Theresa, I don’t know how to do this without her. I’ve never dated
without Sheridan’s help. The truth is I’ve always leaned on Sheridan for
everything. I’m not sure what I’m doing anymore. "
Theresa embraced Gwen into a gentle hug, tears falling from both their
eyes. Their lives were changing quickly and neither understood any of it.
