Chapter 10
Eve sat in her office and stared at her papers after Pilar left. It would
drive her crazy trying to figure out the woman’s secret, so she didn’t bother.
Instead, she tried her best to dive into her work. She was planning to lighten
her patient load for the next few months so that she could put in a full
effort to find her son. She had already contacted the hospital for their
records on the birth. She wanted the doctor’s name that delivered and the
nurses on staff that night. It would be a difficult task because it was twenty
five years ago but it was still doable. They kept all older records in the
basement of the hospital and were in the process of putting them into computer
system. She knew it might be a dead end, but ever since Julian gave her hope,
she felt she had to try.
“Ah, sister. Tough at work I see?” Liz came in her office unnanouced. Eve
sighed, she didn’t have time for this.
“Yes. I am. So, what do you want…sister?” She cut her eyes at her younger
sister. While Whitney and Simone were doing better, Eve doubted her and
Liz would ever repair their broken relationship.
“Is that anyway to talk to the sister you left to be molested by our father?”
She pouted wickedly and sat on her sister’s desk. Liz loved these little
trips to her sister’s office. She loved looking at all of what her sister
accomplished; it would all soon be destroyed and meaningless. Much her like
sister.
“I told you over and over how sorry I am about that Liz. If I had known
anything was going on, I would have come back. I would have helped you. You
never told me anything about it until you came back here for revenge.” Eve
was losing her patience.
“It doesn’t matter. Do you know what is great, Eve? Sleeping with your
husband. Oh, he is a very good lover. Did you know, I just came back from
making love in your marriage bed? We did it five times in one afternoon.
Glory be, he is wonderful.” Liz fanned herself with her hand. At least this
was one part of the conversation she didn’t have to fake.
“I’m glad you had fun with my husband sister. It must be sad though. Being
the other woman and all. He doesn’t love you enough to marry you or respect
you enough to leave me. That should tell you something.” Eve knew she hit
a mark when she saw her sister’s eyes dim for a moment.
“He will leave when I tell him about you.”
“And he will wonder why you waited soo long to be honest. T.C. hates a
liar.” Eve smiled to herself realizing the irony.
“He will get over that. He will hate you and so will your children.”
“Are you done?” Eve gave her sister a pointed look and nodded towards the
door.
“Rude.” Liz walked out of the door. She did have the club to look in on.
Five minutes later Eve heard a knock on her door. She had given up on completing
paper work and laid across the couch to read her ‘just for fun’ book. She
mumbled for the person to come without looking away from the words.
“I almost forgot how sexy you are when you read.” Julian had made his way
right next to her ear before she had noticed anything amiss.
“Julian! Don’t do that.” She tapped her fingers nervously on the book.
She could not lose her resolve now. She was determined to make sure everything
was clean cut in her life even if her husband was cheating on her.
“I’ll stop. You can tell me about your day.” He straightened up and walked
over the other side of the couch. He gently picked up her legs and placed
them on his lap.
“Well, okay. It was kind of rough. I got to see Pilar and that was nice
even though it was work. Patients have been driving me crazy and my colleagues
are driving me even crazier. I saw Whitney and Simone having lunch and they
seemed to genuinely trying to rebuild their relationship. Meanwhile, my
twisted sister comes in here not ten minutes ago bragging about how her
and T.C made love five times this afternoon. The hussy.”
“Hussy? I cannot believe he is going behind your back like Eve. Especially
with Liz. It is nice to hear about Whitney and Simone.” Julian had a fondness
for both of Eve’s daughters, especially Whitney.
“Who would you cheat on me with, Julian.?” Eve placed her book to the ground
and started to work her toe on his buckle. She was suddenly tired of her
resolve.
“You know, I would never cheat on you. If I had you to make love to every
night then that is what I would do every night. In every way imaginable.
I love you, Eve. You know this.” He tried to keep his composure as her toe
went south.
“That sounds excellent. We should make love on this couch.” She moved quickly
on his lap and began to kiss him. She wasted no time unbuttoning his shirt
and licking his ear. When he moaned in her ear, she felt a shiver.
“Wait! Damn, Eve. I don’t want to make love because T.C. is doing it. He’s
not a trendsetter. I want to do it because you want me so bad it hurts.
I want to have even more mind blowing sex than we had in the past because
you love me as I love you. You want me as I want you. I know you do, Eve,
but this isn’t right. You are still married.” He spoke the words but could
not bring himself to remove her off of his lap. He wished he had more strength.
Her tongue was doing amazing things traveling down his neck.
“Julian. Come on. I love you too. You know that. This has nothing to do
with my husband. We are married in name only. I could not tell you the last
time we had sex or when it was even good. I see you and I just want to climb
on top of you. I only stay awake in board meetings because I allow myself
to daydream of us there. I know you want me Julian. Don’t fight.”
With that she knocked him down on the couch as she did when they were on
the grass. She jumped up to lock the door and pull the shades when she felt
a hand come from behind her. Julian undid her shirt and felt inside her
bra. She leaned back into him against his solid chest. When he kissed the
back of her neck, she purred and arched to give him better access. Finally
he turned her around and kissed her hard, pushing her up against the door.
“Let’s go to the couch Eve.” He started to steer her towards when she stopped
him. She placed her hands firm on his shoulders and then moved out of her
skirt.
“Take me here.” She whispered, clinging to him.
And he did.
