Ch. 2
The next morning, Gwen shut off the alarm. After getting dressed, Gwen
picked up the newspaper and sat down at a table. "I have to find a job."
Gwen said. Gwen opened the newspaper to the job ads. "There's a job opening
at the Book Cafe," Gwen said.
Later, Gwen had went to the Book Cafe and been hired.
"This is the first time we've had 'one of them' work at the Book Cafe,"
Beth said in surpise. Chad put a new mixed C.D. in the C.D. player.
"What do you mean, one of them?" Chad asked.
"I know Gwen isn't exactly a Crane, but once people live in the mansion,
they just don't get back in the real world. I mean, look at Theresa. The
poor girl was tricked into thinking she was married to Julian, now she
doesn't even have Ethan, she's living at the cottage with Sheridan and
Antonio trying to figure out how to support Ethan Martin and get full custody."
Beth said.
"The Cranes are responsible for everything that's happened in this
town," Chad said. "Look at Grace and Sam's marraige, ever since Ivy got
thrown out of the mansion she's been living at the Bennette house and causing
all kinds of problems for Sam and Grace."
Later, Eve and T.C. had taken Whitney to the hospital after she passed
out to have some tests run.
"I hope you're happy, Eve, Whitney is so stressed out about this Chad
thing that she's having medical problems, there is no way she's going to
be able to put her focus into that match tomorrow." T.C. said.
"You expeect Whitney to play tennis tomorrow after the way she passed
out!? Something could be seriously wrong with her. I am a doctor." Eve
said.
"Yeah, no need to remind me." T.C. said.
"T.C., we are not discussing this here!" Eve said. "There could be
something seriously wrong with Whitney."

Gwen sat down at a table, exhausted. Luis walked into the Book Cafe
and sat down at the table with Beth and Chad.
"Hi Beth, Hi Chad." Luis said.
"Luis, what are you doing here? I thought you'd be at the cottage with
Sheridan and Antonio telling Antonio the truth." Beth said.
"I wish," Luis said hopelessly. "Antonio started bonding with Little
Ethan, Sheridan was afraid of telling him." Luis noticed that Gwen was
working at the Book Café. "Either this whole situation with Antonio
is causing me to imagine things, or that's Gwen Hotchkiss working at the
Book Café."
"Yeah, Gwen is working at the Book Café." Beth said.
"She's trying to show Ethan that she doesn't need to keep running back
to him," Chad said. “She blames Rebecca and Julian’s schemes for Ethan
always rescuing Theresa.”
“Rebecca is an opportunist,” Luis said. “One of these days, her obsession
with being Mrs. Crane is going to blow up in her face, look what happened
to my sister. She wanted to be Mrs. Ethan Crane, Julian’s wacko friend
Bruce ended up tricking Theresa and Julian into thinking they were married,
Ethan and Theresa might have gotten back together a long time ago if Theresa
wasn’t so determined to stay Mrs. Julian Crane.”

“When are we going to get Whitney’s test results?” T.C. asked.
“I hope soon,” Eve said.
“What’s wrong with our daughter, Eve?” T.C. asked.
“I wish I knew.” Eve said.
“Well, maybe you’d have a clue if you were around more often.” T.C.
said.
“T.C., we’re not going to solve anything if you keep antagonizing me!”
Eve said.

Later, Rebecca paced around the room.
“How long are you going to just pace around the room for?” Julian asked.
“Pookey, I just can’t sit back and watch Gwen loose Ethan!” Rebecca
said.
“Rebecca, Gwen decided she’s better off without Ethan,” Julian said.
“Maybe she’s right.”
“Julian, you don’t mean that!” Rebecca said.
“Rebecca, I know you were trying to protect Gwen, but sometimes you
just don’t know when to stop.” Julian said.
“What are you talking about?” Rebecca asked.
“Well, that mystery man pulled a gun on us when we went to give him
the brief case full of money,” Julian pointed out.
“But nothing happened,” Rebecca said.
“Luckily.” Julian said. “Don’t forget about that tape you made to set
Theresa up to be executed,” Julian said. “That plan didn’t exactly work
either.”
“I’d do anything to protect Gwen.” Rebecca said.
“Gwen is an adult, I think you need to let her solve her own problems.”
Julian said.
“Are you saying I ruined Gwen’s life too?” Rebecca asked.
“I didn’t say that, you were trying to help Gwen get Ethan.” Julian
said. “Hiring that mystery man did get Theresa out of the mansion, but
Ethan did come to her rescue. Ethan is living at the cottage with Sheridan,
Antonio, Theresa, and Little Ethan.”
“Maybe Gwen is right,” Rebecca said. “Maybe I do go a little too far
sometimes.”

At the cottage, Sheridan watched as Antonio bounced Ethan Martin on
his knee.
“Sheridan, spending all of this time with my nephew is making me think
of all of the great times we’re going to have with our baby!” Antonio said.
“Oh no,” Theresa said. “Antonio is more convinced that Sheridan’s baby
is really his.”
“It’s going to be even harder for Sheridan to tell Antonio the truth
now,” Ethan said.
“It’s going to be so hard on him to know that he might not be the father.”
“How am I going to tell him now?” Sheridan thought in dread. “I can’t
keep doing this, I just can’t.
