Chapter 3
Eve and T.C. sat outside the hospital waiting room.
"Damn it, Eve, if you wouldn't have encouraged Whitney to date and
have a life outside of tennis, we probably wouldn't even be here right
now." T.C. said.
"T.C. it is not my fault," Eve said. "What's happened to our marraige?"
"Everything that happened is your fault. All of it." T.C. said. "Eve,
all of the hard work I put into tennis is ruined."
"T.C., do you really want to know what I think?" Eve asked.
"Why not? I don't see how things can get any worse than they already
are." T.C. said.
"God, I think that you don't know how to love anybody unless they can
benefit your tennis career!" Eve said.
"Eve, that was a new low." T.C. said.
"It's true!" Eve said. "Everything revolves around tennis. You complain
because I'm at work a lot, but you completely ignore the fact that Simone's
heart was broken when she found Whitney with Chad! I remember, you said
'Whitney would never do anything like that, Sugar bear, she's too focused
on her tennis to be interested in boys.'"
"And that wouldn't have happened if you would have been home more often."
Eve said.
"T.C., our daughter's heart was smashed right in front of you, and
the first words out of your mouth are 'it's nonsense, Whitney wouldn't
let anything jeapordize her tennis career. It's no wonder Simone hates
her sister!"
"Are you saying that it's my fault our girls hate each other?!" T.C.
said.
"I'm not going to sink to your level, but you need to take responsibility
for your own actions! The whole world does not revolve around tennis!"
Eve said.
"Well, you should have been home more often." T.C. said.
"What difference would it have made? The only thing on your mind would
have been tennis!" Eve said.
"Is that how you really feel?" T.C. asked. "It is so pathetic how you
can be jealous of my dream."
"Pathetic!? You're the one that said I'm responsible for everything
for being at work!" Eve said. "T.C, when you said I was responsible for
everything, it was like you might as well have stuck a knife through my
heart."
"That's how I felt when Whitney chose Chad over her own family." T.C.
said.
"Don't you mean over tennis?" Eve asked. "T.C., after you blew up,
Whitney told me that she didn't tell us because she was terrified that
you would kill Chad! She was afraid that her own father would commit murder!"
"Well, she could have turned to you, but who did she go to? Liz." T.C.
said.
"T.C., it scares me that it doesn't concern you that our daughters
are terrified of your temper! You say I'm the neglectful parent!?" Eve
asked.
"Me?! Me!?" T.C. said. "I have taken Whitney to tennis practices at
the crack of dawn since she was a little girl."
"T.C., our daughters were afraid to come to either one of us because
they were afraid you would put someone in the hospital." Eve said. "Your
temper terrifies me sometimes." The nurse came out of the room.
"Dr. Russel," The nurse said.
"What's wrong with my little girl?" Eve asked.
"The doctor will be with you in just a moment," The nurse said. "I
have to go check on a patient." T.C. glared at Eve as the nurse walked
off.

"Sheridan, we have to tell Antonio the truth," Luis said as he watched
Antonio play with Ethan Martin.
"You know, you and my baby are going to be best friends." Antonio said.
"We're going to have such a close family, you, mine and Sheridan's baby,
Miguel and Kay's baby, I can't wait to take all of you to baseball games
and amusement parks when you get older."
"Luis, this can't go on any longer," Sheridan said.
"Then we have to tell him." Luis said.
"Luis, we can't just tell him like this." Sheridan said. Luis sighed.
"I can't take any more of this," Luis said. Luis grabbed his coat.
"LUis, where are you going?" Sheridan asked.
"Out." Luis said. Luis slammed the door.
"What's with him?" Antonio asked.
"Antonio, you don't understand." Sheridan said.
"Oh, I know exactly what's going on here." Antonio said. "I can't believe
I've been so dumb, it's so obvious." Sheridan looked at Antonio in shock.
"Luis is just upset about Julian trying to get custody of Ethan Martin."
Antonio said.
"I see Luis's point, how much longer can we go on like this?" Sheridan
thought desperately, amazed at Antonio's cluelessness.

Julian walked into the bedroom to find Rebecca pacing around the room.
"Becky, you've been pacing around the room so long I'm surpised the
floor isn't worn down.
"My life is falling apart!" Rebecca said. "How do I get Gwen to trust
me again? I tried calling her cellphone and she hang up on me."
"Maybe Gwen's cellphone was just out of range?" Julian asked.
"No, she told me not to bother calling her and then she hang up on
me." Rebecca said.
"She can't stay mad for that long," Julian said. "She'll eventually
realize that she's just upset over Ethan and Theresa."
"I hope you're right," Rebecca said. Rebecca got an idea. Julian looked
at her in concern.
"I know that look," Julian said, knowing that she had came up with
another crazy scheme.
"I just have to get Ethan to realize that he can't trust Theresa then
he'll realize that he needs to patch things up with Gwen!" Rebecca said.
Julian shook his head in frustration.
"Well, so much for admitting that you go too far sometimes." Julian
said. Rebecca smirked deviously.
"I just thought of the perfect plan." Rebecca said.
"Oh no, here we go again." Julian said.
"Pookey, you really need to be more optimistic!" Rebecca said.
"If you mean optimistic that I'll come out of this without any bruises
from being hit by the crossfire, dream on." Julian said.
"Pookey!" Rebecca said in annoyance.
"Just what is this plan?" Julian asked. Rebecca smirked.
"I'm going to fix it so that Ethan and Gwen keep running into each
other," Rebecca said.
"Help us all," Julian said desperately. Fox walked into the room and
smirked.
"You should listen to dad, Becky wecky," Fox said, smirking.
"Oh, wipe that smirk off of your face." Rebecca said.
"Or what? Are going to ground me?" Fox asked.
"How long have you been standing there?" Julian asked.
"Oh, just long enough to know it was you know, safe to walk into this
circus you call a bedroom." Fox said.
"The correct definition of circus is the fact that you're friends with
Theresa," Julian said. "I'd hate to witness the madness at Sheridan's cottage
with Antonio being too dumb to pick up on the truth by now, Theresa clinging
to Ethan repeatedly saying "Ethan still looooves me" and Luis saying 'we
have to tell Antonio the truth." JUlian said. "I hope they have a lot of
asprin in Sheridan's cottage."
"You know what I think?" Fox asked.
"I didn't know that was a function your brain had, Fox." Rebecca said.
"Oh, ha ha." Fox said. "You're one to talk about thinking not being
a function my brain has, I'm not the one everyone calls Becky wacko behind
my back."
"The only one who's wacko here is you." Julian said.
"I'm wacko? I'm not the one who's playing musical wives." Fox said.
"Go away," Julian said.
"It'll be just like musical chairs, only without the chairs." Fox said.
"Get lost." Julian said.
"What, you don't like my idea for a new game?" Fox said.
"That's so funny I forgot to laugh," Julian said sarcastically. "Adios.
Scram. Get lost."
"Fine. I'll go see how mom is living at the Bennettes." Fox said. "I'm
sure she's a lot more sane since she can have tomato soup cake for breakfast.
It'll be more amusing than being in the same house as you two."
"Fox, I bet if you went down to the hospital and had Dr. Russel do
an x-ray on your head, they'd find out you had tomato soup cake for a brain."
Rebecca said. Fox rolled his eyes.
"You know what, I'm out of here before I really do end up with tomato
soup cake in place of a brain." Fox said. Fox left.

At the hospital, the doctor came out of the room.
"Doctor, what's wrong with my daughter?" T.C. asked.
"She's alright," The doctor said.
"What do you mean, she's alright? She fainted!" Eve said.
"Brace yourselves, we ran some tests and it turns out that Whitney
is pregnant!" The doctor said.
"Pregnant!?" Eve and T.C. said in shock. Eve looked at T.C. awaiting
his reaction.
"It's all over," T.C. thought.

Gwen sighed as she leaned on the railing at the wharf.
"If anyone ever told me a year ago that my life would turn out this
way, I never would have believed them." Gwen said. Gwen flashed back to
Grace Bennettes carnival when Ethan was proposing to her, and remembered
hearing a woman scream 'noooo' when Ethan asked Gwen to marry her.
"I should have known that scream was going to be trouble," Gwen said.
Then, there was the bucket of paint that was knocked on Ethan's head and
all of the other incidents Ethan had involving that girl who he thought
was a stalker. "I should have known that girl was after Ethan, and now
she's living with him in Sheridan's cottage. No, I mean, he's living with
her. Oh, this is a nightmare." Gwen said. Gwen heard a creaking sound.
She screamed when the railing gave way and Gwen fell into the water!
"Help!" Gwen screamed. Meanwhile, Luis and Hank walked along the wharf.
"Antonio still hasn't figured it out yet?" Hank asked in disbelief.
"No, we've tried to tell him, but he stil keeps putting words in our
mouths, and Sheridan is still afraid that the truth could kill him." Luis
said.
"I thought Eve said he was strong enough." Hank said.
"Yeah, but Sheridan is still afraid of hurting him. I don't know how
much longer we can go on like this." Luis said. Hank stopped.
"Hey, do you hear that?" Hank asked.
"Heeeeelp!" Gwen screamed. "Someone help me!"
"That sounded like a woman screaming," Luis said.
"Someone help me, I've fallen off of the wharf!" Gwen yelled. "I can't
swim!" Luis and Hank followed the screaming to see Gwen struggling to stay
above the water.
"Don't worry, we'll get you out of there!" Luis said. Luis pulled off
his jacket and dove into the water. A minute later, Luis had managed to
get Gwen out of the water. "Are you ok, Gwen?" Luis asked.
"I think so." Gwen asked. "I was just standing by the railing, then
the railing broke and I fell in."
"Gwen, we should probably get you to a doctor." Hank said.
"I'm pretty sure I'm fine," Gwen said.
"Hank is right," Luis said. "That water is freezing cold this time
of year. You should probably go to the doctor and make sure the baby is
ok. I can drive you over to the hospital to have you checked out by a doctor."
"Ok," Gwen agreed.
