Well, here's the second part to chapter 6. I added others to the part to make it longer. Enjoy!
Music played in the background as Chad finished cleaning up one of the
tables in the Book Cafe for the evening, when he heard the door open and
close.
"We're closed."
"The sign says you're open until 12. So I still have 5 minutes."
Chad recognized the voice and somehow gained the courage to turn around.
Chad stared at her for a moment, then down at his watch.
"Okay, 5 minutes, what do you want, Whitney?"
"Coffee," Whitney said, thinking quickly.
"Twelve AM, and you want coffee?" Chad shot back at her with an angry
voice.
Whitney couldn't think of anything to say to him. She looked down at
her hands and intertwined them.
There was a brief moment of silence until the next song began to play.
Take your head around the world
See what you get
From your mind
Chad looked Whitney because that's all he really could do at that moment.
He hated getting angry at her, but it was currently one of the two strongest
emotions he had for her. The other was hurt, which was written all over
his face and now in his voice.
"Why do you do this to me?"
"What do you mean?" Whitney asked.
"You tell me that you don't want to be with me, but you seem to always
show up here, where I work, while I'm working. I mean, are you trying to
drive me insane?"
Write your soul down word for word
See who's your friend
Who is kind
"Fist of all, I told you I couldn't be with you, not that I didn't want
to. And second, this is a popular place, Chad. I've always come here, long
before you came to Harmony."
"Yeah, we're especially popular for our 12 AM coffee runs, or is that
just a popular thing you've always done. You now have 2 minutes."
It's almost like a disease
I know soon you will be
Whitney felt tears forming in her eyes. She hated hurting Chad, making
him not feel important. And she knew she was by the look on his face and
the sound of his voice.
"I don't know what else to say, except I wish things could have been
different." Whitney said quietly, almost in a whisper.
"They still can," Chad said trying to give himself hope. "Or maybe
not. Let me help you on what you came here for. You came here for closure,
to have things come to a real end with us. I'm right, aren't I?"
"Chad..."
"It's over, isn't is?"
"It has to be."
Over the lies, you'll be strong
You'll be rich in love and you will carry on
"Goodnight, Whitney."
"Goodnight, Chad." Whitney said as she turned and went out the door
"and good-bye." With that she let go and her tears fell.
Chad watched her from inside, move away from the building, down the
street, and away from him. It was then he spoke the word he swore he would
never speak to her, "Good-bye."
But no - Oh no
No you won't be mine
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ty and Simone walked down the beach, talking and laughing and reminiscing
about their high school days.
"I still can't believe Kelly. I mean, she's been obsessed with you
for over 4 years. You'd think she would've gotten a hint." Simone said.
"You'd think." Ty laughed, "but I think she finally has."
"You handled that really well. Letting a girl down, who you didn't
have feelings for, easy. I mean, you could've just not told her."
"That wouldn't had been very fair to her, now would it?" Ty said, while
thinking 'God, listen to yourself, Mr. Sensitive.'
"No, it wouldn't have been." Simone smiled at him. 'Man, where was
this guy during Prom season?' Simone stopped dead in her tracks when she
realized she was thinking about what it would be like on a date with Ty.
"Is something wrong, Simone?"
"Oh no, I just realized that it's getting pretty late and I should
be heading home."
"Well, we're heading in the right direction, so why don't I walk you?"
"Okay, thanks" Simone smiled as the two started toward the street above
the beach. Though the walk was short, it was the only quiet moment since
the two had left the party. They both could feel the tension between them.
The quietness was broke with a slight laugh coming from Simone's mouth.
"What's so funny?"
"I was just thinking about that time Kelly nominated, advertised, and
elected you for Homecoming King junior year."
Ty couldn't help but laugh recalling the events.
"She sure went to a lot of trouble."
"She really liked you."
"It's a shame I never felt the same way."
"Did you try?" Simone said as she stopped walking and looked at him.
"I shouldn't have to try. You either have feelings for someone or you
don't." Ty took a step closer to Simone, leaving barely enough room to
put a piece of paper between them.
"And I, Simone Russell, don't have feeling for her." Without giving
Simone a chance to comprehend what he had just said, Ty leaned down and
pressed his lips gently against Simone's.
Simone couldn't think straight, but could only stand there and allow
herself to get lost in Ty's kiss.
