Swept Away, Chapter 11 (Evian)
by ejcrane

The quads were over that week, and as usual, they were giving Tracy a hard time…well, all of them, except Julius. The rest of them called him a traitor and excluded him from their mischievous acts.

Julian stepped out and asked Tracy if she was okay with watching the kids. She agreed and tried to be friendly with them. This wasn’t the first time she was with them…but it was the first time she was left alone with them. They soon changed their attitude when the front door closed behind Julian.

Evangeline and J.J. were in the game room playing with the Playstation, while Julius was playing his music piece on the piano. Tracy loved Julius’ dedication. He had talent…

As for Evelyn a.k.a “Evil”, she was in her room standing on a step ladder. She then walked out of her room and dragged the ladder with her into another room. This was Tracy’s “thinking” room. No one was allowed to bring any food or drink into that room, for it was completely white. The walls, the carpet, the tiny sofa…everything in the room was white.

Evelyn extended the step ladder and set it out right under the ceiling fan. The fan was off, of course. She then climbed to the very top step to where she would reach the fan blades and then she pulled something out of her huge pockets of her hooded sweater. It was a bottle of Heinz ketchup. She flipped the top open and began squeezing onto the top of the blade. After evenly spreading the contents of the bottle to each blade, Evelyn closed the bottle, and reached in her pocket for another. It was French’s mustard. She did the same thing with it as she did with the ketchup. After she was through, she stepped down from the ladder, folded it up, and left the room quietly.

Forty-five minutes later, she could hear Tracy’s scream down the hallway from in her room. She smiled…smiled like her grandfather Alistair Crane.

Tracy was downstairs grading papers, when she realized that she had left some other papers upstairs in her room, so, she put down what she had in her hands and went upstairs. She opened the door to her room, but it was dimly lit from the sunshine coming through the windows, so she decided that she needed the ceiling light on. Tracy flipped the switch to the ceiling fan on, and that’s when the lights turned on, the blades started turning at their highest speed, and all the ketchup and mustard flung everywhere; the walls, the carpet, the furniture, Tracy’s face…EVERYWHERE!

She trembled with anger! She knew exactly who had done this!

“EVELYN!” Tracy shouted as she turned and walked out of her room and down the hallway to her step-daughter’s room.

Tracy didn’t even bother knocking, and threw open the door. What happened next, she didn’t expect. Evelyn had concocted another prank right in the doorway of her bedroom. As the door opened, and as Tracy stood in the doorway, a bucket of water dumped onto her head!

“YOU LITTLE BRAT!” she leaped forward.

Evelyn laughed as she dodged Tracy’s hands. She then ran out of the room and down the stairs, and that’s when Julian came in through the front door and watched as his daughter ran by. He couldn’t tell which one she was, but when he saw Tracy, he knew that it was Evelyn.

He ran a hand through his hair and looked up the stairs at his wife.

“What did she do this time?”

“DON’T EVEN TALK TO ME! IF YOU DON’T STRAIGHTEN THIS OUT, THEN I WILL!” she yelled and turned around as she went to her room to shower.

Julian shook his head and went in search of Evelyn. He found her outside next to the pool. Her next prank was to lead Tracy out by the pool, and then when she was close to the edge, she’d come from hiding and push her in, but it had been her father who had found her.

“I know, I know,” she rolled her eyes, “I’m grounded for a week,” she said in a tired voice.

“For a month.”

She gasped as she looked to her father.

“Don’t give me that look,” he commanded, “Now, what have you done this time?”

“Yo, Evil…good one,” J.J. came from inside and raised his hand so his sister could give him a ‘high-five’.

Evangeline just had a huge smile on her face.

“Thanks, Knevil,” she said as their hands slapped each other.

Julian rolled his eyes. His two most devious and mischievous children had given themselves the nickname of “Evil and Knevil”.

“Evil Knevil,” he looked to both Evelyn and J.J., “Why am I not surprised you were an accomplice in this?” he shook his head.

“ME?!” J.J. yelped.

“Dad, he didn’t do anything; it was me,” she looked down.

“What is it that you’ve done?” Julian asked as he desperately wanted to know.

Evelyn told him everything, and Julian couldn’t help but laugh a bit. Where in the world did Evelyn come up with those pranks?

“I’m…” Julian nudged her, “…sorry,” Evelyn finished.

Tracy simply nodded and went back to work on getting the stains out of the carpet.

“Honey, here, give me that,” Julian walked to her and grabbed the sponge out of her hand.

He then walked back over to Evelyn and handed it to her.

“You did this, and now you’re going to clean it up…understand?”

She nodded and went straight to work.

Julian and Tracy left the room, and that’s when J.J., Evangeline, and even Julius came and helped their sister out.

It was the next week, and the quads were back with their mother and step-father. Eve had heard what happened over at the mansion, and couldn’t help but laugh. She lectured to Evelyn that that was wrong, but still, it brought a smile to her face.

Evelyn and Evangeline and Julius were in the Evangeline’s room doing their homework. Tc had tried to connect with his step-children, but none of them were willing to try, but he kept on trying.

J.J. had finished his homework that afternoon in school, and was now busy with something. On his way outside, he grabbed a brown paper bag and a lighter from the drawer. Julian Jr. walked out and around to the side of the house. The Thompson’s dog loved that little area…

“Well, what do you know? Fresh ones!” he grinned wickedly.

J.J. scooped the up feces of Jacques into the brown paper bag and then stood up and walked to the front. The paper bag was folded at the top. J.J. then set it down on the front doorstep, lit it, and then rang the doorbell, and RAN back to the back of the house to his window where he snuck back in.

Tc heard the bell and came to the front door and saw the tiny fire on the porch, and instinctively stepped on the bag with his shoe to put the fire out. After it was out, he sniffed the air and then looked down in disgust.

“SH*T ALL OVER MY DAMN NEW K-SWISS, EVE!” Tc whined.
