Chad Harris watched the tears trickle down his mother’s face. So much pain showed in such beautiful eyes.
"You need to talk to him." Chad whispered.
Eve nodded. "Its going be so hard." She cried.
"But if you don’t talk to him now, you never will. Look I ain’t gonna force you to do it. I just think things need to be worked out." Chad said taking his mother’s hand in his. "Julian Crane won’t ever be the perfect father, or the best man in the world, but I’m taking what I can get. And he’s trying which means I’ve gotta do the same."
"How did you become so smart?" Eve said forcing a weak grin.
"Well Julian tells me I get it from my mother. He says she a real smart woman, and I’ve gotta agree with him." Chad laughed.
"Julian, said that? About me?" Eve gulped.
Chad nodded. "He has never had a bad word to say about you. Always good stuff."
"Really? All good?" Eve said shocked.
"Yeah. All good." Chad said taking her hand. "So you gonna go talk to him or what?"
Eve nodded. "Yes son, I’ll talk to him."
Chad smiled. His parents would finally talk, hash it all out, this could be the night, maybe even the only chance they had.

"Julian, they’re coming." Theresa said looking up.
"How does Eve look? Is she smiling? Is she upset? How is she?" Julian quizzed.
"She looks upset, but Julian, so are you." Theresa reasoned.
"Yes but I did this to her my dear." Julian sadly replied as Eve and Chad walked up to them.
"Julian, can we please go somewhere and talk?" Eve said as Julian stood up.
"Yes, Yes of course we can." Julian nodded.
"I’m sorry about dinner." Eve frowned.
Smiling Theresa shook her head, "We understand, please go talk, we will be fine."
Eve nodded as Julian looked up at her. "Are you ready?"
"As ready as I’ll ever be." She said nervously.
Julian reach his hand out to Eve and slowly she took it, together they walked out the Lobster Shack to face the past for the first time in years.
~*~*~*~*~

Julian looked over at Eve as he got into his car, she wasn’t the young girl he had loved anymore, instead she was a strong woman. "Are we really going to do this?" He said sitting down.
"Talk?" Eve said staring at him.
"Eve, I want to get everything out in the open, we must talk about what I did to us."
" I agree, but where do we start?"
Eve frowned. "Not here." She whispered.
"Why not?" Julian questioned. "Its not going to be any easier in my house or yours."
"But not in a car, We can’t talk about this in the Car."
Julian nodded. "Then get out." He smiled.
"What?" Eve gasped her eyes widening. Staring at him, she could see his eyes hadn’t changed, they still held the youth she had once loved in him. And as he smiled at her she almost lost her breath. That smile used to make her grow weak, and at the same time warm her inside.
"We are going to take a walk."
"Its cold Julian." Eve said shaking her head.
"I believe you used to love to walk at night, no matter how chilly it seemed outside."
"Indeed I did. But that was then." She came back at him. "I’m not that child anymore."
"But you haven’t changed nearly as much as you would have me believe Eve. The essence of who you once were still lingers in you."
Eve tried to fight the smile that forced it way to her lips. "Fine Julian. We will walk." She smiled. "But what about your car?"
"At the moment I don’t care about this car. I just want to talk to you." Julian said as the both stepped back out of the car.
Eve looked at Julian as he came around to her. "So what down?" She breathed.
"We talk." He simply said nervously.
"Who starts?" She inquired lowering her head.
"Eve, I am sorry for what I put you through." Julian began. "You have every reason to hate me for it." He frowned gazing at her.
"Yes Julian I do." Eve said as they began to walk. "I should hate you for it all."
"Do you hate me Eve?" Julian questioned rubbing his own chin. Something he had done for years, when fear seemed to be the only thing left in him. But tonight, it wasn’t just fear, it was pain also, deep pain.
"No. I don’t hate you. I hate what you did, how you ruined so much of my life. But hate you I don’t."
"Eve, Father wanted me to kill him." Julian suddenly blurted staring at her. He didn’t have to say names, she knew who ‘him’ was.
Eve gulped. "But you didn’t." She said tilting her head to the side.
"I went against father to protect our son from death Eve. "
Tears began to fall from Eve’s eyes. "But you lead me to believe he was dead." She said inhaling the night air.
"I had to. Don’t you see, father didn’t know. I thought Chad was getting a good life Eve, I had no idea how he was really living." He frowned.
" So Chad and I both suffered because of you’re need to hold on to your money?" Eve questioned.
"He is alive Eve! I made sure he lived."
"But not with me Julian. He was our son, and we should have raised him." Eve suddenly yelled out.
" Father would have never allowed it!" Julian told her wanting to let his own tears fall as he watched Eve battle her pain.
"Father? Do not blame everything on him Julian. Will you just admit you left me because of your money? I loved you and you just walked away." She cried.
"But Eve, he would have never let us be together." Julian reasoned.
"No! If you could manage to save our son’s life, we could have figured out a way to be together, rich or poor Julian. We could have made it!"
"Eve, he told me he would kill you, you and Chad. If I didn’t leave you he was going to kill you!" Julian suddenly yelled at her. "And I would never let anyone hurt you like that. Don’t you get it? I left you because I wanted you to live. And I saved Chad because I couldn’t stand the thought of the son we created out of love dying."
Eve stopped dead in her tracks. "You saved my life?" She gasped.
Julian grabbed her shoulders. "Yes Eve. I walked away from the only woman I’ve ever loved, to make sure my father didn’t hurt you. Then I took our son, the son I loved so much, and put him in the arms of a nurse at the hospital and paid her to give him to someone loving. I did that for you, for him." Julian exclaimed feeling a burst of water running from his eyes. Tears falling from Julian Cranes eyes.
Eve’s lip quivered as she looked at Julian, tears streaming down his face. She hadn’t saw tears fall from his face in so long. Since the day he said goodbye to her. "You did all of that?" She whispered her throat feeling dry from the cold air.
Julian nodded and reached into his jacket, pulling out his wallet he searched until he handed he a worn out photo. " I had this took before I gave him to the nurse." He said looking down at Eve.
Eve sank down to the ground as her hands grasp the photo. Julian stood staring down at a newborn baby, he was showing only a half smile, yet his face held much pain. "Chad?" She cried out.
Julian fell own his knees with her. "Yes Eve. Its Chad."
"You’ve carried this with you?"
"Every single day since I gave him to that nurse. I had to have something to hold on too." He whispered.
Eve looked up at him anger shooting through her again. "But I had nothing." She said bitterly. "Nothing but baby clothes our son never got to wear, nothing but a aching heart and tears from thinking he was dead." She shot back at Julian. "Because of you’re father, and because you never told me the truth."
"Eve, I told you."
"I know what you told me, but if you had of just brought him to me, I would have ran with him Julian, and you could have came too."
"He would have killed us all." Julian frowned.
"But we would have been together." Eve said staring down at the photo.
"I had to do something Eve, and I can’t say I regret saving you and Chad."
Eve frowned. "He was such a beautiful baby."
" He’s a handsome young man now Eve, and He loves us. We can’t go back and change the past. God knows I would if I could be we can’t. And I know you don’t regret having Whitney or Simone, nor do I regret my other children."
"You’re right, I don’t regret my girls. "
"So we must look at the future Eve. We have our son now, can’t we just start fresh?"
"You honestly want me to forget the pain I’ve went through?" Eve questioned. "Because I can never do that Julian."
Julian touched Eve’s hand with his. "I don’t want you to that, all I am saying is we have our chance now. Chad’s alive, and we are here. Its a miracle that our son is here in Harmony and that we get this chance. I want to do everything I can to be his father." Julian said slowly standing up, he put his hand out to Eve and she took it as he helped her off the grown.
"Julian." She said in a low voice.
"Yes Eve."
"Thank you, for saving his life." She said looking up at him.
"He’s my son Eve."
"He’s our son Julian, and I think he needs to know the whole story." She sighed.
"Tomorrow Eve. When we are rested and ready." Julian said almost in a question.
"Fine. Tomorrow." She agreed.
