Chapter 17
“I can’t catch no man…” Eve danced her way back into her hotel and was
feeling really good. She was angry at Julian for renewing his vows but glad
that he wasn’t in love with Rebecca. She would get him back and make him pay
for wasting time. There was something in eyes that told her there was more
going on that what appeared and she would not push him.
“Hello, mom.” Eve nearly jumped out of her skin at the sight of her youngest
daughter waiting for her at the edge of the bed.
“Simone, baby…what are you doing here?”
“I need to talk to you. It’s important and I know that you want us to
have an open and honest relationship.” Simone had been nervous about this
talk and figured her mother was a better shot than her father. She knew
she needed to tell one of them. Maybe Paloma would never be ready and Simone
would never push that, but she was ready.
“Yes, of course darling. If this is about me and your father though then
you should really save your breath. I love you and Whit very much but me
and him are not getting back together.” Eve sat near her daughter and took
her hand.
“No, I know that mom. I mean it sucks but that’s life. Things happen.
No…I guess I should come out and say it. Mama, I’m gay.” Simone closed her
eyes and let the tears fall.
“Honey.” Eve took her daughter in her arms and held her close to her chest.
She waited until she felt the worse of Simone’s crying was over before she
continued.
“Do you still love me? Accept me? I won’t take anything less.” She tried
to sound tough and determined but failed because her voice was shaky.
“Of course, I still love you. You are my baby girl. I’m shocked and all
but I still love you. How long have you known? Is this because of me and
your father’s spilt?” Eve knew that it most likely had nothing to do with
her but she still had to ask.
“I’ve known for what seems like an eternity. I just never really acknowledged
it. My love for Chad was like my final defense of against but I can’t help
who I am mom. And no, you and dad aren’t the cause.” She felt silly with
that last sentence. How could her mother think such a thing?
“You wanna spend the night?” Eve got up to unfold the sheets. Simone nodded
and spent the night in the arms of her mother like when she was child.
In the dark of Harmony two ex spouses met to finalize a plan that would
change many lives. She was nervous as she waited for him; she kept tapping
the park bench she sat on. When he called her, she was completely taken
aback. She knew that he had something big planned and was hesitant to join.
When he mentioned the name of her lover, she knew she had to come quick.
“Hello, Julian.” Theresa tried to remain calm.
“Hello my favorite ex ‘wife’. I won’t keep you long. I was surprised to
learn about you and my son though. I thought you were holding that candle
for Ethan.”
“I’m only trying to break them up because I hate Gwen. You know all of
this already. Now, what about Fox? You said you had a way I could help him.”
“Yes, I do. You’re right. No need to waste time on idle conversation.
I would just appreciate if you two would refrain from doing it in my home
office. I had to get a new couch. For a secret affair, you two aren’t very
discreet.” Julian smiled at the mother of his child.
“Fine. Fine, Julian, come on. Tell me. How can I help him?” Theresa needed
to get back to the mansion.
“Okay, calm down and lean in close.”
“Why the hell would I do that?”
“Because I really like your perfume. Don’t argue woman.” He took her hand
in his and no one around could see the vial that passed from his palm to
hers.
Alistair roughly tapped Rebecca on the shoulder. She was snoring again
and he hated that, most importantly, he didn’t do slumber parties.
“Get up and get out. Your husband should be back soon. Are you looking
forward to renewing your vows?” He needed information and that was only reason
she was in his bed.
“Yea, yea. Excited as I was the first time. I think he’s just doing this
to get back at Eve. You know he invited half of Harmony?” She did not love
Julian but she would love to spit in Eve’s eye. She knew that reason he hadn’t
made love to her recently was because he loved Eve.
“Did he now? Even in revenge my son is weak. Well, at least he is giving
up on that black wh*re. Now, I just need my daughter to give up on her baby’s
father. Or I could try and kill her again. She’s like a roach though. Rebecca,
get up.” Alistair felt her touching him and felt annoyed. Things were falling
into place. He had Liz ready for the downfall of Eve. She would definitely
regret the day she set her sights on his son. His son would regret the day
he gave Eve a child and Alistair would have a nice good laugh.
“I should get going anyway. Maybe my Pookie would feel up to doing me
tonight. Not that you weren’t great but I need it more than once a night.”
Rebecca quickly got up and walked out of the room naked.
When she exited Alistair turned over in bed and took a picture out of
his nightstand. He lit his cigar and laughed out loud as he looked at it.
The whole town was in for a surprise and he could not wait.
Liz turned over in bed next to T.C. and could not remember a time when
she felt so happy. She knew that if it came out that Eve was her sister and
she had been lying to T.C. all this time, he would leave. She also knew that
Eve was more than reluctant to have her past come out so they had an unspoken
agreement. T.C. and Liz had just celebrated him finally giving up on Eve.
Soon they would come out as a couple.
“I still don’t get why that scum Julian invited me to his wedding renewal
vows. I hate him and he hates me. For a while there I thought he was after
Eve.” T.C. placed his arm around Liz. He did not think it was possible, but
he loved her. There was no pressure with her and she was not perfect. Eve
had been so pristine and even a little rigid. Liz was none of that.
“Well, we have to go hon. He threatened the school athletic department.
You know how much the department needs the money and the Cranes could pull
out at any time. I’m sure you won’t have to do much. Just go, raise your
glass and toast the sorry couple. I’ll give you nice surprise when you get
home.” She smiled up at him and kissed his chest.
“Well….as long as it’s really nice.” He brought her face up to his and
kissed her again. This kiss started as a peck but soon became more intense.
He pushed the covers off her and sat her on top of him. She drove him crazy.
Sheridan and her lover talked quietly after a loud session of love making.
She had never been so content in her life and she knew that any moment, things
were going to get better. She felt like she had a real family, for once.
She smiled up into his eyes.
“You love me, right? You don’t feel bad about what we are doing? No second
thoughts?” She kissed his hand.
“No, I love you with my heart and I always will. When all this comes out,
we will stand together.” He knew that he would always be with her, damn his
family.
“Good. The sh*t is going to hit the fan soon. I will need you. We will
need you.” She patted her stomach.
“Are you serious?” His face broke out into a smile that seemed to light
up her whole heart.
